Our motto is "Education starts early. The question is: What are they learning?" The Early Literacy and Learning Academy (ELLA) was founded by Kenda Johnson.
Johnson taught high school and then middle school in some of the toughest schools in America. She acheived success as a classroom teacher and mentored other teachers as a master teacher and an English as a second language (ESL) specialist. Though high percentages of Ms. Johnson's "children" went on to gain record ground on state exams in Texas and Colorado, Johnson ultimately recognized the need for critical thinking skills and a love for learning to be fostered from an early age and continued throughout a child's education by both teachers and parents. ELLA offers childcare and tutoring for children ages 6 months to 16 and training for parents and teachers. Students are placed according to their individual levels and taught Early Literacy, Early Number, Early Civics and Early Investigative skills. Lessons are prepared by a certified teacher who believes that childcare that does not take advantage the natural curiousity and thinking abilities of young children are not helping them realize the full potential of their lives. Put simply, our motto is "Education starts early.
Mission: To provide exceptional early literacy education to all children regardless of race and socio-economic status; and, empower parents to be life-long partners in their child's education.
