Shelby County Health Department will conduct an immunization event on Saturday, September 30, at the Teacher and Learning Academy (TLA) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (no appointments necessary, while supplies last). The benefits of families experiencing school as a place of learning and fun, outweighs everything else. As a way to get children and parents excited about math and science, the Pre-K family engagement team hosted Math and Science night at Shady Grove Early Learning Center.

A total of 114 teachers participated in "Fun with Phonological Awareness and Foundational Skills" PD sessions led by Lakeshore. The 9 sessions were offered over 3 days. During each session, the presenter walked teachers through the principles of phonological awareness. Teachers then had the rest of the session to dig into the custom-built foundational literacy kit to explore the items and brainstorm ways to use the items outside of their original intended purpose. Teachers left very excited and were able to each take a kit back to their classroom with them.

On Saturday, April 30th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, Early Childhood and S.E.E.D. will host Kindergarten Registration at Kirby High School.
Come on out, get your child registered for Kindergarten, receive a Pre-K to Kindergarten Summer Transition Packet, register for Ready Rosie, and enjoy some good food.
Also, the Shelby County Health Department is teaming up with LeBonheur Children’s Hospital and UT Health Science Center to provide children’s vaccinations.
