Will, Trace, Virginia, Vera, and Ms. Kelly bundled up for a quick stroll to the Peabody to watch the ducks march in this morning. The excitement proved to be too much for Virginia, but the others had fun meeting Duckmaster Jimmy who gifted them with miniature Peabody ducks and Peabody duck cookies. (I'm going next time!) Thank you, The Peabody Memphis 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆

Early Voting at Calvary
Calvary is opening its doors to the community as an early voting location Monday-Friday, April 11-26. Polls are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Mural Room.
All are invited to the Calvary parking lot on Saturday, April 21, for an educational and food event focused on barbeque. Teams and competitors in Memphis in May’s World Championship competition will share their knowledge, skills, and samples—all for a cause: supporting Calvary’s Community Breakfast for our unsheltered neighbors. You can watch the set-up which begins at 5 a.m., and the smoke will waft all day long until about 5 p.m. Admission to the all-day educational event is free. To sample barbeque all day, the suggested donations are $10 for adults and $5 for children. For more information, contact Ruthie McLain at [email protected]. All are welcome, and there is no charge for barbeque teams to participate.
Concert featuring the Boy Choristers from St. Paul’s Cathedral, London
Calvary Friends of Music is pleased to host one of the world’s most celebrated cathedral choirs in concert—the Boy Choristers of St. Paul’s Cathedral, London on Monday, April 23, at 7 p.m. At the heart of the Choir’s being is the singing of Choral Evensong each day. The Choir also frequently gives concerts and broadcasts, as well as producing critically-acclaimed recordings and touring across the world. Calvary is one of eight stops on their US tour, designed to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the American Memorial Chapel in St. Paul’s—a tribute to US servicemen who gave their lives in World War II. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the FREE concert.
Calvary also is collecting canned goods for Grace-St. Luke’s food pantry if you want to set up a donation box inside Calvary Place for parents to drop off canned goods:
Canned Good Collection
A recent study by the Food Research Action Center says 26 percent of people in the greater Memphis metropolitan area could not afford to buy food for their families over the previous 12 months. Calvary is collecting canned goods for Grace St. Luke’s food pantry during the Easter season. Please bring canned goods before May 20.

‘Crying is a healthy and necessary way for children to express their feelings. By saying “stop crying” we send the message that their feelings are not important, not valid, silly, or annoying.’

[01/18/18] YES!!! I repeat, YES!!!, CP is OPEN tomorrow, Friday, January 19th! There are still icy patches in the parking lots, but there are enough clear areas to walk around and enter the building safely. Please be careful. (If anyone needs directions on how to get here since it's been so long, give me a call.)
[01/18/18] I am so sorry, but Calvary Place will be CLOSED tomorrow, Thursday, January 18th, as per Shelby County Schools. The main roads are fairly clear with at least one or two lanes open, but the side streets and neighborhood streets are still ice covered. The main concern is the safety of our parents, children, and teachers reaching the building. The parking lots surrounding Calvary Church are all ice covered. They never got mushy today, but were hard, slick, and ice covered. With the higher temps tomorrow, I have high hopes for Friday.
[01/17/18] Calvary Place will be CLOSED on Wednesday, January 17th, as per our weather policy. I've been out driving since 5:15 pm, as far east as Germantown Parkway and west to Second Street. There is still too much ice on the main streets to be safe. Cross your fingers for Thursday!!
[01/16/18] Calvary Place will be CLOSED tomorrow, January 16th, as per our weather policy. Please be safe.
[01/12/18] Calvary Place will be CLOSED today, Friday, January 12th, as per our weather policy. Please be safe if you must be out.
[01/10/18] Calvary Place will be CLOSED on Monday, January 15th, for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
