Sunday is World Environment Day🌎🌱☀️

To celebrate and honor our environment, here are seven nonprofits you can volunteer with to help make our city, and our planet, a cleaner and greener place to live and play.

🌳 Memphis Tilth
🌳 Memphis Rox Climbing + Community
🌳 Wolf River Conservancy
🌳 Catholic Charities of West Tennessee
🌳 Carpenter Art Garden
🌳 Shelby Farms Park
🌳 Memphis Botanic Garden
Conservation pages such as Wolf River Conservancy are substantially influential in spreading awareness of environmental tactics and efforts. This page is beneficial for the community and contributes toward a more environmentally stable earth and community. A documentary I recently watched that discussed the state of our environment and called for reformation was Revolution Generation: How Millennials Can Save America and The World. Directed by the remarkable Joshua Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell, the film is sensational and provides information on clean water and air, climate change, and renewable energy. The powerful environmental activists Shailene Woodley, Greta Thunberg, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Michelle Rodriguez all speak out through Revolution Generation in an attempt to keep people informed on the subjects correlated with preserving the environment. Check out the film on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and YouTube. Let me know what you think! Hope it motivates you as much as it did me.
Beyond the Wolf River Greenway bridge is a plaza that will include a metal sculpted archway similar to the one made of bikes on Overton Park’s eastern side in Midtown. To kick off our week, we collaborated with Wolf River Conservancy to discuss why Earth Week is important! Scan the QR code on the second image to hear all about it.

The theme for this year’s Earth Week is ‘invest in our planet’. What are some ways YOU invest in our planet? Comment below to let us know!
In honor of Earth Day, we took a field trip to the various trailheads of the Wolf River Greenway. Thanks for all the work you do, Wolf River Conservancy.

» Reached more than 1,725 youth and adults through education programs
» Spent 1,100 hours leading groups on paddles along the Wolf River
» Planted over 1,000 new trees in the Wolf River Watershed
» Collected and disposed of 7,700 lbs. of litter & debris
» Added 2.3 miles to the existing Wolf River Greenway trail

Together, we can continue taking tremendous strides, protecting water and wildlife, educating others, recreating responsibly, and connecting communities... but we can't do it without you!

Check out what Wolf River Conservancy said about their Spring into Fall Service Projects from a few weekends ago. We love seeing the different kind of projects volunteers spend time doing.

"On Sat., Sept. 18th, 35 volunteers joined Conservancy staff at Epping Way for three service projects - in spite of the showers and storms in the area. Miraculously, the rain falling elsewhere held off at Epping Way and volunteers were able to successfully pick up a huge pile of trash on N. Highland, work on a trail and clear privet near the river, improve nest boxes for birds, and install a purple martin gourd rack, all while staying dry in pleasant fall temperatures. Special thanks to a big group of Houston High School students and their teachers, members of Zeta Phi Beta, a University of Memphis sorority, the AYLUS group which has volunteered with us before, and to our dedicated River Guides, Mark and Kyle, who step up for so many projects. Everyone did an outstanding job and we are so grateful for your help!"
