For the fourth year in a row, the Birmingham Squadron's Annual Literacy Day Game brought the excitement of basketball and the power of reading together. This special event challenges students to build strong reading habits through friendly competition—making literacy just as thrilling as the game itself!
This week, our FPA Birmingham students and teachers showed up, cheered loud, and had an unforgettable time supporting the team. A big thank you to the Birmingham Squadron for making reading a slam dunk!

Yesterday, our Founder & CEO Roblin Webb joined a panel discussion on unlocking early-stage funding for K-12 schools, alongside Nguyen Huynh from the Walton Family Foundation and Kim Neal Brannum from Believe Schools, hosted by Kathryn McHugh of Civic Builders Inc. at SXSW EDU 2025. Early-stage funding for charter schools is key to opening doors for educational opportunities, and, as the founder of a successful, 15-year-old charter school network, Ms. Webb was honored to lend her insights to this important discussion. Thank you for a wonderful panel discussion.

Big Congratulations to Our Freedom Prep Seniors!
We are beyond proud to celebrate Dacorrian Jefferson, Leila Bridgeforth, Jason Allen, Hamidou Anne, Autumn Haynie, Aissata Sene, and Krystalin Wooten, who have been awarded scholarships from Alabama A&M University! In total, 17 Freedom Prep seniors received scholarships—what an incredible achievement.
Special recognition to our school and counseling department, which received the Bulldog "Service is Sovereignty" Award for being the first Memphis school to host Alabama A&M and for achieving a high number of applicants and scholarship recipients.
