We want to remind you about our upcoming Dress Out Day, which will take place on Friday,8/18/2023. This fun event allows students to wear their own choice of clothing to school while also supporting a good cause. To participate, we kindly request a $2 contribution from each student.

Dress Code Guidelines:

Appropriateness: Students are encouraged to wear clothing that is respectful and suitable for a school setting. Please ensure that clothing does not display offensive language, images, or symbols.

Modesty: While this is a Dress Out Day, we ask that students still adhere to our school's dress code standards. Shorts, skirts, and dresses should be no shorter than 4 inches above the knee. Tops should have straps that are at least two fingers wide, and midriffs should be covered.

Footwear: Closed-toe shoes are recommended for safety reasons during activities.

Weather-Appropriate Attire: Students should be dressed appropriately for the weather on that day.

Each elementary student received a designated car tag number that must be visibly displayed on the front windshield of the vehicle during drop-off and pick-up times.

As the new school year begins, we would like to inform you about our Wednesday schedule and dismissal procedures to ensure a smooth start.

Starting tomorrow, 8/2/2023, and every Wednesday thereafter, we will be following an abbreviated schedule. Dismissal will begin promptly at 1:35 pm to allow our dedicated teachers the valuable opportunity to engage in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and other essential professional development activities until 2:00 pm.

In light of this change, we kindly request your cooperation in picking up your children by 2:00 pm on Wednesdays. This applies to both bus riders and car riders, as buses will be departing earlier on these days.

To ensure a seamless dismissal process, we ask that you please communicate with your child about their designated method of getting home. Bus riders should be aware of their bus number and stop, while car riders should familiarize themselves with their car numbers. Parents of car riders, we kindly request you to display the car tag number on the windshield for easy identification during dismissal.

The first day of school is tomorrow, and we are filled with enthusiasm and positivity for the exciting year ahead! Let's work together to make it a fantastic first day for all our students.

As we eagerly await the start of the upcoming school year, we wanted to take a moment to inform you about Early Release Wednesdays.

Starting from August 2nd, every Wednesday will follow an abbreviated schedule, and dismissal will begin promptly at 1:35 pm. By 2:00 pm, our teachers will have the valuable opportunity to engage in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and other essential professional development activities.

We kindly request that you plan to pick up your children by 2:00 pm each Wednesday. This change also applies to our bus riders, as buses will be departing earlier on Wednesdays.

We understand that some parents may have difficulty picking up their children on time. To assist with this, we have arranged for aftercare services to be available. If you require aftercare for your child on Wednesdays, please contact Ms. Anna Bagley, the Y-Care coordinator, at 901-320-6021 or [email protected]. Sign-up will be available in the front office and during Orientation on Wednesday, July 26th.

Please note that the first day of school falls on a Wednesday, so it will be an abbreviated day for all students.

Our primary goal with this change is to provide our teachers with the additional time they need during contract hours to focus on professional development. This, in turn, will have a positive impact on the quality of instruction, benefiting student achievement and learning outcomes.

Mientras esperamos ansiosamente el comienzo del próximo año escolar, queremos tomarnos un momento para informarles sobre los miércoles de salida temprana.

A partir del 2 de agosto, todos los miércoles seguirán un horario abreviado y la salida comenzará puntualmente a la 1:35 p. m. their summer break. The program will run from May 30th-August 6th, 2023, and is open to all Tennessee students entering Kindergarten-12th grade.

We will be celebrating Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week 2023 next week between May 8 and 12. Below is the weekly schedule with our daily themes for our teachers and staff with all the appreciation they deserve. Please feel free to gift your teachers and staff members any way that you would like during this week only. You may also bring gifts to the office each morning and place in the designated cart. They will be delivered to the teachers by our staff. Thank you for your endless support.

We are excited to announce the upcoming MSE Reading is “sweet” Book Fair Family Events at our school! This event is a wonderful opportunity for our students and their families to come together and celebrate the joys of reading.

One of the events is Brunch with Books which will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, at the MSE Cordova Elementary Cafeteria from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. During this time, families can enjoy a delicious brunch of waffles with toppings such as fresh fruit, chocolate chips, and more. Afterward, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, families can shop at the book fair, create a book-related craft, enter the raffle for free books, listen to an engaging story, and get tips to prevent the summer reading slide.

We encourage all families to attend and make this event a success. We want to make sure that every student and family at our school knows about this exciting event. Please share this information with your friends and family, and encourage your child to attend with you.
