This week's Tuesday Tip is all about accent modification! Many non native English speakers struggle with the pronunciation of certain English words and sounds due to their accent. Regardless of English fluency level, non native speakers are frequently asked to repeat what they have said because their listener cannot understand them. One tip for accent modification is to record yourself speaking and then compare it with a recording of a native English speaker talking. This will allow you to identify the words and sounds you struggle with, and track your progress as you work to improve pronunciation. At Chain Bridge Speech & Language, we work with clients of all ages on accent modification therapy. For more information, please visit our website! www.chainbridgespeech.com. This week's Tuesday Tip is the FLOSS rule! The FLOSS rule is used to help students remember when to use a double "f", "l" and "s" at the end of a word. This rule states that when a /f/, /l/, /s/, (or /z/), is heard after a short vowel at the end of a one-syllable word, that letter is doubled. The word "floss" follows this rule and also serves as a memory aid because it contains the letters "f", "l" and "s". The FLOSS rule is just one of many memory aids that can help young students learn spelling rules! If your child is having difficulty with spelling, our speech therapists can provide direct spelling intervention! Thank you to Make, Take & Teach for providing the great FLOSS rule visual! All of this information can be found on the Make, Take & Teach website ( https://blog.maketaketeach.com/the-floss-rule/ ).

April is Autism Awareness Month and Chain Bridge Speech & Language is lighting it up blue!
Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are often characterized by challenges in social communication and social interaction and the presence of restricted, repetitive behaviors.
Signs of ASD typically appear during early childhood. Research shows that increased awareness and early intervention, such as speech and language therapy, significantly improve outcomes.
Chain Bridge Speech & Language has speech therapists on staff who have had years of experience working with individuals with ASD. We tailor our therapy sessions to the individual strengths and needs of each person.

The Berard AIT Website | Berard Method
What is the Berard Auditory Integration Training?
Auditory and sensory processing problems cause many difficulties interpreting daily experiences. The Berard AIT method works to improve auditory and sensory processing capabilities, and participants excel at language, learning and social abilities.
Participants use headphones to listen to music that provides auditory stimulation. This stimulation reorganizes the dysfunctional sensory center so the brain can better interpret disorganized information.
The Bearad Auditory Integration training was originally developed by Dr. Guy Berard who successfully used this method in Europe, and has since become known as one of the most effective methods for enhanced listening skills, language, learning and sound tolerance.
Kristin Keller has been trained and certified as a practitioner in the Beard Auditory Integration Training since 2006. Kristin is also a certified instructor in the Berard method and serves on the Board of Directors for BAITIS (Berard Auditory Integration Training International Society).
