We’re getting to know Dr. Evan D. Perez, an RGV native of Edinburg!
Dr. Perez utilizes the latest, evidenced-based non-surgical care for children and adults whether they consider themselves to be non-athletes, active people, athletes, “weekend warriors,” or occupational injuries. He treats acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions such as sprains, strains, tendonitis, stress fractures, concussions, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger points, osteoarthritis, and more. He also provides school preparticipation exams, evaluation of athlete EKGs and can help assist with return to play decisions. Dr. Perez utilizes ultrasound to assist with quick bedside diagnostics along with injection procedures.
Dr. Perez is part of our UTPA alumni, and has been a Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician at our clinical practice, UT Health RGV, since August 2018. Additionally, he’s a team physician for the UTRGV Vaqueros, UTRGV Athletics, USL RGVFC Toros, and the NBA G-League Vipers.
Dr. Perez is fulfilling his dream of returning to the RGV to transform the quality of health care for patients. We’re happy to have you here, Dr. Perez!

Hi, I’m Evan D. Perez, MD, and I’m excited to be taking over the TMA page today! I’ll be taking you through a day in the life of an academic primary care sports medicine physician. I typically start my day being woken up by my daughter, Aleina. My wife, Aniella, and I enjoy being silly with our daughter. Then we transition to the kitchen where I have coffee and we eat breakfast. Depending on the day, I go to a different academic or clinical site.
