Manitowoc County Health Department to Host Flu Vaccine Clinic for Children
The Manitowoc County Health Department will be holding a pediatric flu vaccine clinic for children 6 months through 18 years of age on Friday, October 15th from 12:00-4:45 PM. The influenza vaccine will be free and available to anyone in this age group, regardless of insurance coverage. Vaccine supply is limited, and vaccination will be available by appointment only. The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine will also be available to anyone 12 and older.
The best way to protect yourself and the people around you from the flu is to get the flu vaccine every fall. CDC recommends that everyone ages 6 months and older get an annual flu vaccine. People at highest risk for serious illness include young children, pregnant women, people 65 and older, and people with chronic health conditions, such as asthma or heart disease. While it is especially important that people in these groups get vaccinated, it is also very important that healthy people ages 5 to 64 years get vaccinated too, since they are most likely to spread influenza and can still get complications from flu.
What: Flu Clinic for children 6 months – 18 years
When: Friday, October 15th, from 12:00 PM-4:45 PM
Where: Manitowoc County Health Department (1028 S 9th St., Manitowoc)
Vaccine available by appointment only. Please call the Health Department at (920) 683-4155 to schedule your appointment. Spanish and Hmong interpretation available.
Everyone ages 2 and older will be required to wear a mask.
All members of the public are invited to grab a Soup To Go bag between 1:00-5:00pm on Friday, October 1 at First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc.

Tuesday evening we were notified of a staff member testing positive for COVID. We are awaiting test results due to exposure at work from other employees who were in close contact. Out of an abundance of caution, Grow It Forward Community Food Center will be closed this Wednesday through Monday, as we ensure that our remaining staff are healthy and that we don't develop any additional cases. This means we will not be accepting Food Pantry appointments Thursday or Friday, September 9th and 10th, and we will not have our Community Meal on September 13th.
As of right now, we plan to reopen for pantry appointments next week Thursday, September 16th, but we want to make sure to have all possible exposures identified and give a few days for the incubation period.
We apologize for any inconvenience, but we believe this is the best option for keeping our clients, volunteers, and staff safe. Thank you for your understanding.
For those in need of immediate food resources call 211 or visit https://www.211.org/

A recent CDC study shows just how contagious the Delta variant is. After a teacher infected with the variant worked for two days, occasionally unmasked to read aloud to kids, half those kids tested positive.
The high rate of infection from one initial case highlights just how quickly Delta can spread – especially among unvaccinated people like schoolkids, who are too young to get the vaccine.
