Our research explores the integration of cutting-edge technologies and innovative strategies to enhance water efficiency and crop resilience in alfalfa production.

Alfalfa, a vital crop in the Southern Great Plains, faces increasing water challenges. Our study emphasizes the use of precision irrigation techniques, including soil moisture-based management and advanced decision support systems. These tools, coupled with artificial intelligence and satellite imagery, offer a sustainable path forward for alfalfa farming amid water scarcity.

We at DART lab were honored to host Professor Fábio Joel Kochem Mallmann from Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. It was a pleasure to have him with us, and we truly appreciate the quality time and valuable insights he shared.

During his visit, we had the opportunity to briefly present our ongoing research, and it was a privilege to showcase our cutting-edge projects at both our Greenhouse and North Farm. Additionally, we enjoyed giving him our lab tour, where we highlighted the sophisticated tools.

His expertise has enriched our research, and we are eager to incorporate his feedback to drive our work forward.

K-State has outstanding graduate faculty who are developing innovative ways to advance education!

Congratulations to Dr. Gaurav Jha and Dr. Anita Dille from the the department of agronomy for receiving over $256,000 in grant funds to develop a Precision Agronomy Teaching Hub. Their project supports "hands-on learning with exposure to the latest technologies and industry experts in precision agriculture."
