Our Nurse Anesthesia faculty and NARs had the honor of being at the Capital yesterday with Governor Beshear as he signed the 2024 proclamation recognizing CRNA Week in Kentucky and acknowledging the over 1,000 CRNAs that practice across the commonwealth, many in critical access hospitals.
Our nurses and CRNAs are essential to our health care system.
Every day, these heroes risk their own health and safety to protect ours. It was my honor to proclaim January 21-27, 2024, as CRNA Week here in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

The UofL School of Nursing will use the funds from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to develop and implement an accelerated Licensed Practical Nurse-to-Bachelor of Science in Nursing (LPN-to-BSN) pathway in medically underserved areas of Kentucky. The second HRSA-funded project aims to increase the number and diversity of nurse practitioners to better address the healthcare needs of rural and urban underserved populations. Congratulations to Dr. Heather Mitchell and Dr. Sara Robertson and their team for all their work to increase the need for more healthcare workers in those needed areas of the state.
