Mosque Approval in Southern California: Bellwether for the Rest of the Country?

Annenberg Fellow Mary Slosson published (and in Huffpo no less!) The Anti-Muslim fever in this suburban Southern California community has finally broken. Late last month, the City Council definitively ruled in favor of a proposed mosque.

USC Mobile and Environmental Media Lab

Check out USC's Mobile and Environmental Media Lab where no fewer than three Annenberg Fellows conduct research into pervasive computing! A collaboration between Kraft and Intel has produced a machine that scans your face to predict what you might want to eat (or, more precisely, what it can sell you to eat). It’s a kiosk called the “Meal Planning Solution.” As Fast Company reports:

More great work from Fellows - "What to Bring to America", produced by Arthur Musah and directed by Christophe Nassif. Coming soon to a theater near you! What to Bring to America is a family drama set in the heart of Los Angeles. Helen, an Ethiopian immigrant, is pressured by family and tradition to make a dire choice about what's best for her daughter on the eve of the young girl’s circumcision.

Very cool opportunity to check out a fellow Fellow's work! The USC School of Cinematic Arts and Visions and Voices: The USC Arts & Humanities Initiative invite you to attend a screening, panel, and reception in honor of Colombian Avant-Garde Animation 7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 4th, 2011 at the Eileen Norris Cinema Theater

USC's Parkside Dining Hall welcomes Annenberg Fellows! Three Lunchtime Networking Groups meeting in the coming days for good food and great conversation.
