The Dream Center, a volunteer driven organization that finds and fills the needs of individuals and families alike, was founded in 1994 and currently serves over 40,000 people each month.
Operating as usual
Hey Dream Center family, friends, and supporters, we come to you with urgent news. Our beloved Pastor Matthew Barnett suffered a medical emergency yesterday.
We are asking for your prayers and support at this time. Despite the seriousness of what he is going through, he is in good spirits and good hands. God is faithful, and we are believing for a full recovery.
If you would like to help lighten his load in the coming months, you can give a gift of support and encouragement. Our amazing friends Phil Liberatore and Dana Liberatore have graciously offered to match any financial gift that come in through dreamcenter.org/donate within the next three days.
We are so thankful for our community, and will continue to update you and on his recovery.
Give him a shout-out or lift him up with a prayer on his Instagram account @matthewbarnett1, he loves and appreciates you all very much!

Meet Craig and Sandy, the directors of our recovery programs!🙌 These two have served humbly and lovingly over our one-year recovery program residents for over the last 17 years!!
The success of this program is contributed to greatly by the dedication and commitment of both Craig and Sandy and their strong team of leaders. God has used them both in great ways through the recovery journeys of countless individuals, bringing so many men and women in need out life-controlling issues and into new life. We are beyond blessed to have them.💙

We are so thrilled and honored to partner with such an incredible company who’s mission is not just about food, but to give individuals a second chance and to make our communities better because of it.

CELEBRATING these 11 incredible men and women who graduated from our program this weekend!!🎉🎓🙌 We could not be more excited for them to step into what's next, in health and with Jesus!
Each of these individuals committed the last year of their life to overcoming life-controlling issues such as addiction, incarceration, trauma, abuse, and so much more. It's been the biggest blessing to have had a front-row seat and get to witness their transformation this past year. Each of them have such a bright future ahead!💙

It’s and we want to say a huge thank you to @worldvisionusa for their contribution to our Foster Care Intervention Program, Foster Youth Home, and beyond!🙏💙
The ongoing support of World Vision has been essential to filling the needs of our communities and residents that have been impacted by the effects of Foster Care. By providing beds, sofas, dressers, kitchen appliances, dining tables and so much more, they have equipped numerous individuals and families with the essentials they need to stay together and have a new start with their lives, helping to close COUNTLESS cases with DCFS (Department of Children and Family Services). Their donations have also helped furnish our transitional housing floors which has allowed our Foster Youth residents (amongst hundreds of others across our residential programs) to call this place home.🏠
Thank you @worldvisionusa for helping us change lives through these programs!

Our continued thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by yesterday’s tragedy.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” - John 14:27
When a domestic violence situation broke out between Thelma and the father of her children in 2021, a case was opened with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). While working towards closing their case, it was brought to our attention that this family was about to be separated. They were living in poverty and would not meet the necessary furniture requirements needed for the children to remain in the home.
The family was also in need of groceries and Thelma hardly had any adults in her life to lean on for support. She was in need of community. Right away, what initially started as a simple furniture delivery (love seat, full size bed, 2 dressers, and a dining table), was looking like the beginning of a long-lasting relationship.
Since the initial visit, our team has seen Thelma once a week almost every week since our initial visit. We provide the family with groceries and healthy community. Thelma has become family. Since the first time our team met Thelma, we have seen her self confidence grow so much, the confidence in her children grow, and seeing the love they have for each other as a family is so beautiful.
We are so excited to share that in December 2022, the family is looking forward to seeing their case closed!

Another case closed and a family kept together!💙🏠 Gigi's family was at risk of being separated due to poverty-related issues. But by the grace of God, through our partnership with DCFS, our Foster Care Intervention team was able to intervene just in time and deliver all the furniture essentials needed in the home for Gigi's children to remain her care.🙌
Read her incredible story of serving and being served here through our programs!💙👉
"My name is Guillermina but I go by “Gigi". I have 3 kids, Isabel, Hailey and Ander. I got involved with The Dream Center about 3 years back when I met Billy, a leader with the Mobile Food Banks and asked about my family and I coming to help out.
My oldest Isabel and I quickly started serving on a Wednesday morning following that conversation. Since then, Isabel has been helping at the Mobile Food Banks!
We came to a point where we needed help, when due to COVID my fiancé stopped working. He is the only one that provides for us, so while he was out of work for a long while, to help our family, I would go to the Mobile Food Bank for our groceries and that would help us out a lot to get through the weeks.
All I have to say is that God makes things happen when we most need him. He is with us all the time. More recently I joined the Foster Care Intervention program thanks to Leah! She told me about the program because we didn’t have anything when we had our baby boy.
Through the program, the Dream Center helped us get a car seat, a stroller, a bunk bed, an additional bed and many other things. Me and my family are really thankful and grateful. No one has done a lot for us the way the Dream Center has and I can’t wait to see what the future has for us with them."
Thank you for your support that allows us to help keep more families together and provide them with a second chance. Not all families are separated due to neglect, but because of poverty related issues. With inflation rates rising, more families are at risk of separation because they lack basic necessities in the home. Yanely was born in Huehuetenango, Guatemala. At 8 months old, her family moved to the United States leaving her behind because she was too small to make the voyage safely. While waiting for her parents to arrange her passage to the U.S., she moved several times.
At the age of 6, she arrived in the United States but was abandoned by the family that brought her. She eventually reunited with her parents but her home life was toxic and filled with abuse. At the age of 17, Nely was removed from her home and entered into the foster care system after being sexually abused by her father. When she reported what happened, her father fled. This caused her relationship with her mother to suffer. By 17, she had been sexually assaulted and experienced the violent death of her boyfriend causing additional trauma and pain to her young life. Nely lived in several group homes until she aged out of the foster care system at the age of 18.
Since moving to the Dream Center, Nely has embraced a relationship with God and is focusing on improving her mental, physical and spiritual health. She is currently employed, attending college and plans to get her B.A. in Business Administration and become an Investment Banker.
Nely is learning to cultivate healthy relationships. She is restoring her confidence and self-worth. She no longer lives in fear and anxiety. She has forgiven herself and others and is now able to start trusting again. At the Dream Center she now has a community that supports her, keeps her accountable and helps her meet her goals. Today she has a bright and hopeful future.
If you or someone you know has aged out of foster care and is in need of support, we have a team ready to help you not only find resources for educational learning and job training, but with a supportive community and mentorship. Go to dreamcenter.org to apply today. Link in bio.
