Why I Don't Limit Children's Play Anymore - Teaching Strategies I began my career in 1988 as a family childcare provider. At that time, the only references I had were Mailbox magazine (with all their cute ideas), my licensing rep, and other providers. “Play gives children the chance to practice what they are learning” Fred Rogers
During outdoor play on our beautiful Wednesday afternoon, we looked up to see some shapes floating by. Some saw a star, some saw a starfish, some saw an octopus, some saw a moon…with a smiley face; which lead them to see the pink sunset clouds and snow on the mountains in the distance. Which lead to a conversation about snow and the distance the mountains are even though they look close. All this while they cooked up an imaginary feast and green grass tea in one of the student-lead imaginary cooking classes.
Glitter Art + PreSchoolers = a huge thank you to our teachers for their helpful-patience, inspiration and creativity as the students make memories and special sparkly gifts to bring home. 😁
An extra thank you to Miss SookJa for your diligence with carpet clean-up at the end of each day during this festive month.

“Discipline is born when the child concentrates his attention on some object that attracts him and which provides him not only with a useful exercise but with a control of error. Thanks to these exercises … the child becomes calm, radiantly happy, busy, forgetful of himself and, in consequence, indifferent to prizes or material rewards.” -Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind
