The latest version of Windows is now being released to the public. It is being released on a rolling basis with the newest computers receiving it first, with the rest coming at scheduled intervals over the rest of the year.
To ease the installation make sure you have updated your PC and laptop to the latest updates through Settings>Security and Updates>Check for Updates.
It is a long installation. I suggest that you start the update and than go to dinner and a movie. Than finish the update.

Windows 7 reaches end of life on January 14, 2020. If you are still running Windows 7 or older operating system, it is time to consider upgrading to Windows 10.
Microsoft issued an update on September 10, 2019, with updates to 80 updates over 15 platforms. This is a large update at first glance, but installed in a short amount of time.

Microsoft is warning Windows 10 users to update their operating system immediately because of two "critical" vulnerabilities.
The company said the vulnerabilities are potentially "wormable," meaning affected computers could spread viruses and malware without any action on the user's part.
There are "potentially hundreds of millions of vulnerable computers," Simon Pope, Microsoft's director of Incident Response, wrote in a blog post Tuesday.
"It is important that affected systems are patched as quickly as possible because of the elevated risks associated with wormable vulnerabilities like these, and downloads for these can be found in the Microsoft Security Update Guide,"

A customer of received a robocall identifying themselves as Microsoft. The caller said "that they needed access to the customers computer to remove a program in order to give them a $600 refund."

The customer did not allow them access to their computer and promptly hung up on them.

As I work with my clients who have a Windows 7 operating system the response is slowing down. Along with slow response, programs are not updating to run on Windows 7.
The program publishers are publishing programs to run on Windows 10.
Those who still run Windows 7 still have time to upgrade to Windows 10 on their current PCs (if the PC has the disk space, memory and processing power) or the other choice is to buy a new PC with windows 10 preinstalled.

Newly discovered Google Chrome security flaw requires immediate update
Google regularly delivers a new version of the Chrome browser roughly every ten weeks, but sometimes flaws are discovered that require something even faster. And today is one of those days, according to The Hacker News, who spotted an ominously-worded update on Google's Chrome Releases Blog indicating that Chrome users should update their browser as soon as possible.
To manually check for an available update for the Mac and Windows versions, click the three-dot menu in the upper right, then Help (near the bottom of the menu that pops up), then About Google Chrome. This will open a new window where the browser will automatically begin an update check, which should only take a few seconds.

I am dealing with more of these scams and others trying to get you to respond. Best advice, DON'T.
"Microsoft says it received 153,000 reports in 2017 from customers who'd come in contact with tech-support scammers via a cold call, spam, or the web." Liam Tung | April 23, 2018 | ZDNet.com
If you receive a call, e-mail or web site from Microsoft, Apple, or any other internet provider and you did not contact them first. It is in all likelihood a scam which can cost you between $200 and $400 each time you respond to the contact.
The pictures represent what I have run across in helping clients remove them. Read the entire message to check for what actions they are requesting. For web messages that popup without you going to a website and appearing to lock your machine, I have found that turning off the PC manually with the on-off button and restarting it breaks the connection to the message. If that does not remove the contact window, time to call in The Anker Connection or your local computer help to remove it.
If you get an e-mail, don't respond to it. SPAM IT!
If you get a cold call, don't talk. HANG UP.
Microsoft's new status update on the Windows version 1809 update history page notes that as of 17 December "Windows 10, version 1809, is now fully available for advanced users who manually select "Check for updates" via Windows Update." By Liam Tung | December 18, 2018 -- 10:25 GMT (02:25 PST)
This is a large update and will take 1-2 hours to download and at least an hour to install. Get a drink or go to dinner once you start it.
