Dulcimer Week in the Wallowas

Comments

Hello dear dulcimer friends, I submitted my video, “We are Thunder, We are Lightning” to a contest and I need votes to win. If you have the time, please go to this site and vote for me. 💋
Some people are confused about the process. Here is a suggestion from my niece: "You just create an account. Then just click on the most stars possible (10 stars!) and it said my vote went through. At first I was confused but then saw the stars!"
Much love,
Sina

Heidi Muller and Bob Webb teach classes and organize events in Wallowa County, Oregon and across the Northwest to promote the joy of playing the Appalachian mountain (lap) dulcimer. Our next Dulcimer Week in the Wallowas will be held June 29-July 5, 2015 and is sponsored by the Wallowa Valley Music Alliance.

Our cabins are full but we still have RV space (limited hookups), tent space, and spots in the women's bunkhouse. Local folks are welcome to commute! We still have room for a few students at Dulcimer Week in the Wallowas this July 3-9! Our beginner class with Bob Webb has several openings. Bob gets rave reviews every year... he starts from scratch and shows a different technique every day along with fun tunes. He also explains chords and using a capo, giving students the tools they need to keep growing after they go home. Read about camp and register at www.wallowadulcimer.com.

Registration for Dulcimer Week in the Wallowas is opening this Tuesday, March 1! Camp will be held July 3-9, 2022 at Wallowa Lake, OR with Susan Trump, Dave Haas, Jeff Furman, and Bob Webb as instructors. As long as the pandemic becomes more manageable, we're planning this as an in-person camp and don't anticipate offering online classes. For more information, please visit our website at www.wallowadulcimer.com.

Registration for our 2022 Dulcimer Week is being postponed to March 1 due to the recent COVID surge, so folks can have a little more time to decide on summer plans. To learn more about our camp, please visit our website at www.wallowadulcimer.com.

Dulcimer friends - Heidi Muller still has room in her QuaranTune classes next weekend, and registration ends tomorrow at 5 pm PDT. Hope to see you there!

QuaranTune 5.0 registration ends tomorrow evening, Oct. 2. I still have room in all of my classes, so please consider signing up! One I'd like to mention is my class in DAG Tuning and the Dorian mode - it's one of the four traditional dulcimer tunings and I'll teach you some interesting tunes, including one for the holidays!

Wallowa Retreat's "hybrid" jam went really well tonight. Here are some shots that capture how we did it. The credit goes to Bob Webb for thinking through the technical approach and to Karen Robertson for sitting on the floor in headphones, monitoring our Zoomers. On top of that, the music was really good! Dave Haas was a great jam leader, as always. We took requests from Zoomers as well as people in-person. Our week is off to a good start!

Early volunteers start setting up our outdoor classroom for the Wallowa Retreat!

06/30/2021

Heidi here... Bob and I are in high gear getting ready for our Wallowa Dulcimer Retreat. It's the first "hybrid" dulcimer festival in the country, combining both in-person and virtual students on Zoom. Bob's about to drive to Spokane to pick up our guest instructor, Dave Haas, an old friend of ours from West Virginia. The retreat starts this Saturday and classes run July 4th-8th. No one has to worry about freezing in their tents this year! Here's Dave leading one of our jams in 2019.

06/08/2021

Would you like to attend our "hybrid" 2021 Wallowa Dulcimer Retreat online? We're starting an email list of interested folks as we get close to opening registration. Dates for Zoom activities will be July 3-8 and our two online class tracks will be Advanced Beginner/Intermediate and Intermediate/Advanced, taught by Dave Haas and Heidi Muller. (Beginner classes are only offered in person.) If you'd like to be notified, please email us at [email protected]. Thanks!

Dulcimer Week is planning a Wallowa Dulcimer Retreat with limited capacity, mainly outdoor classes and activities, and vaccinations required, to be held at Wallowa Lake July 3-9, 2021. Our instructors will be Dave Haas, Heidi Muller, and Bob Webb. We've invited our longtime regular attendees to sign up first and we're full right now. We have a waiting list started, so if anyone wants to be on it or wants info about our 2022 camp with Susan Trump, Dave Haas, Jeff Furman, and Bob Webb, please email wallowadulcimer-at-gmail-dot-com. Registration Update:
Due to the constantly changing situation around COVID-19 and people's different safety levels about getting together in groups, we are NOT OPENING REGISTRATION ON MARCH 12, 2021 as planned. We expect that our camp will go forward in more of a retreat form this year. When we have the details worked out, it will be posted here and on our website.

Many of our past participants already pre-registered for 2021. Our camp capacity will be more limited than usual, so we have started a WAITING LIST for additional people, until we can know how many from our prepaid group wish to join us. Please email [email protected] if you'd like to be on that list!

We hope and expect to have a proper 10th Annual Dulcimer Week in 2022, from July 3-9, with Susan Trump, Dave Haas, Jeff Furman, and Bob Webb as instructors. See www.wallowadulcimer.com for more info.

Five women in the dulcimer community will be giving this concert to raise money for their sister instructor, Wendy Songe. Wendy has had a tough time since last fall and we'd like to help her out! Details on her GoFundMe campaign (do a search on her name on their website to bring up her page).

Happy to be a part of this fundraising concert for Wendy Songe! Please donate and join us.

Due to the uncertainty of being able to have our camp this year, registration will be postponed from February 1 to March 12, 2021. We hope this extra time will help us know more clearly whether it will be safe to gather in early July. We look forward to jamming again with Dave Haas like we did in 2019!
