St. John's Islander Band

Islander Band Family,

It is with great sadness that I must inform you that I will not be returning to St. John's for the 2017-18 school year. The band program has been suspended due to budget constraints and I have accepted a position elsewhere. Please know that I am extremely proud of the hard work you have put in and the tremendous successes we have had these last two years. Find a way to keep music in your lives- you are all wonderful musicians and I expect you to keep pushing yourselves forward. St. John's will always have a special place in my heart and I look forward to hearing about all the wonderful things you will do. Islander Pride!

We bit dogs, broke laws, and made cake with Mr. Jones from Livingstone College today! Thank you for our wonderful pre-concert clinic!

Thank you to all the parents and students who came out last night for the Booster Interest meeting! We discussed a number of ways to support the program and we are very excited for our March 15 meeting!

We are so proud of our students that participated in the USC Band Clinic this year! We could not be happier with their hard work and dedication!

It's our first home football game of the season! Come out and see the band!

Another great performance by the Islander Band! We were honored to perform the National Anthem and Taps at today's 9/11 memorial ceremony. Thanks St. Johns High ROTC and administration for allowing us to perform!

The band is growing! We just had 15 students attend our Islander Marching Band meeting! Come out and see the band this year- we are great and getting greater!

We are back at it Islanders! The year is off to a great start with a much larger band that is already hard at work. The Islander marching band will hold its first meeting on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 2:30 in the band room. We are adding more show dates and more music!

What an award-winning band this year! Looking forward to next year!

Graduation is tomorrow! Congrats to all our seniors! Come out to the North Charleston Performing Arts Center to hear the band play the Alma Mater and two special features.

Please join us tomorrow, May 24 at 5:30pm in the library for our first Islanders Band Boosters meeting! After the meeting please stick around for the Concert Band's Spring Program at 7. This is a great opportunity for parents to get involved with the exciting things happening at St. John's!

Tonight, our brass ensemble provided music for the Academic Awards Ceremony. We are grateful for these students, and proud of their talent!
