Read-A-Thon at AOE starts tomorrow! Get your child signed up and ready to go!
Our first graders studied Asia recently in their library classes. To end their studies, students each made a piece of a Chinese Dragon which made its collaborative celebratory dance around the building. Dragons are traditionally used during Lunar New Year celebrations, and they symbolize luck, health, and wisdom. Folklore says that the longer the dragon, the more luck you'll have during the coming year! Our dragon was really long!
A huge thank you to Innovative Craftsmen for sponsoring some new racquets and gear for our AOE Tennis Team! We appreciate your support!
Did you know that being 10 minutes late per day= almost 1 hour per week of missed time in the classroom! Don't be late...you'll miss something great! Congrats to our week 3 class winners!

It was wonderful to be able to have the Palmetto City Ballet back for a performance today! Our 4th and 5th graders learned about the history of storytelling and enjoyed beautiful dance excerpts from a version of Cinderella. What a dynamic visual story! Our students were complimented on their great behavior and their intriguing questions to the performers after the show. Thank you to Arts, Etc. on Kiawah for sponsoring this opportunity for our students! Bravo! Palmetto City Ballet
Reminder for tomorrow and Monday:
Happy School Bus Driver Appreciation Week to our wonderful bus drivers at AOE! Thank you for transporting our “Wise Owls” and keeping them safe each day!

After studying Leonardo DaVinci and blueprinting, SAIL students created their own contraption that would protect an egg from a 75 foot drop. They dived into Newton's laws of motion and explored key vocabulary such as gravity, inertia and acceleration. The fire department came yesterday to drop and test their contraptions! Thank you, St. John's Fire Department, for your willingness to help and for the excitement you shared with our students!
