There is always something to be thankful for. Big things and small things. And everything in between.
from all of us at ! May your day be filled with big laughs and thankful hearts.

Chance made us . A crazy, chaotic, unpredictable, apocalypse made us friends. ❤️
We’re partnering with colleges and universities to provide to future .
📌Worq: Interns will be placed with highly skilled educators, starting their junior year. , appointed college/university faculty members, and the highly skilled educators will meet regularly to discuss areas of strength, opportunities for growth, and other key factors determined by ongoing support.

According to data:
The National Commission on Teaching and America's Future (NCTAF) estimates that the national cost of public school teacher turnover could be over $7.3 billion a year1.
As an industry, we are left thinking through a host of questions. Why are teachers leaving the profession altogether? Why aren’t we infusing proven, modern practices into our way of doing things? And ultimately, how do we best support novice/amateur teachers and grow them into exceptional educators?
Dollars and data are the storytellers. It’s up to us to create companies and programs that can act as the bridge between how we use to do education, and how we must do things moving forward.

Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is a process. Working together is success.
Our is rooted in providing districts, schools, and companies with who transform and impact student outcomes by providing .
One team. One voice. One goal.

Our schools and their communities are huge, unique, colorful melting pots. In order to build and impact the cultures that represent the people we serve, we must go beyond placing buzzwords on our websites, and actually hire, develop, and empower people that look like the students and teachers we serve—all of them. In all of their glory.
How do we do that? Well, for one, we consistently host implicit bias trainings and create meaningful dialogue around how to navigate conversations about race and inequality. That’s a start.

An educator’s plea: Every employee at Seattle Public Schools should substitute teach | Op-Ed
An educator’s plea: Every employee at Seattle Public Schools should substitute teach | Op-Ed I propose that every employee at the district office, from the superintendent down, put themselves in the sub pool one day a month.

It’s time for our series.
As we to create districts, schools, and companies that are led by people who have the know-how, the passion, and the energy to inject all that is good into our —we must constantly analyze how we are providing total support to those leaders.
That could be, giving people complete autonomy over their paid time off, investing in corporate accounts like and , and partnering with gyms and wellness clinics to offer discounts and incentives.
It takes a village. This we know. It’s up to us to together to ensure the village is strong and happy.
Wanna know how we’re supporting our peeps? Be on the lookout for our that will published on December 1st.

The real competitive advantage in any business is one word only, which is “people”.
The people you teach. The people you learn from. The people you inspire. The people that inspire you. Those who make you laugh. Those who challenge you to be better. And ultimately, those that call you by your name, first.

Here’s one of the most debatable topics going on in schools right now.
As an , did you prefer over ? If the pandemic was not even a thing, did the virtual experience hook you enough to want to remotely all the time?
Chime in! 👇🏾

We recently had the opportunity to speak with a group of graduating seniors at a local university. As we discussed our organization, and what means to the people on our team, we provided a space for them to communicate their career goals.
📌 93% of the students we connected with said that being fulfilled is more important than salary.
📌67% of those same students indicated that they want to be challenged. When asked to explain, one student said, “If I’m being challenged, I’m growing. You know, stretching myself, getting better, learning from my mistakes. I wouldn’t choose to work at a place where I didn’t have an opportunity to learn and grow.”
The future of worq is here. The question is, are we creating jobs that help people achieve their full potential?

Most are a one-way-fit type of conversation. Meaning, the applicant is expected to answer a list of questions, without being afforded the opportunity to ask their own list of questions.
Granted, some interviewers will ask the applicant if they have questions. And that’s when we will ask that one general question that isn’t really tied to discovering if the position is a good fit or not. As we gear up for , remember that an interview is a opportunity for the interviewer and interviewee to decide if this position will be a great fit.
📌 Research the school/district, create a list of questions based on your research, be prepared to incorporate these fluid/non-robotic questions in your conversation.

According to Stephen Rhinesmith, there are three important capabilities leaders must demonstrate today: the ability to set strategy, the ability to empathize with others, and the ability to take risks.

Districts, companies/organizations, that are people-first oriented, seem to have happier .
People-first organizations/companies provide space for their teams to make mistakes, learn along the way, while providing opportunities for growth.
Here’s the data:
📌 According to a recent Gallup survey, teachers who are unhappy with their job miss an estimated 2.3 million more workdays than teachers who are more engaged with their roles.

😄 Yes, I am definitely qualified for this job.
🤔 Hmmm, maybe not?
🥲 I still haven’t heard anything.
😶 They hate me.
😭 They definitely went with someone else.
