Office Morrison is seen here presenting certificates of gratitude to Dicks Sporting Goods, Macy's, Kohl's, Bobby Byrne's, Sam Diego's and Target for their partnership in supporting the various youth programs the BPD SRO Unit offers.

All we do is made possible by these partnerships and we can't thank them enough for their support.

It was another wonderful afternoon treating 8 students of the BPS district to a holiday shop-with-a-cop!

A huge thank you goes out to Macy's Backstage in Hyannis for their donation of $250 worth of gift cards to each student, Sam Diego's in Hyannis for the wonderful meal, service, stockings and gift certificates, Santa for making an appearance, and the Barnstable Police Association for their donation as well!

The BPD BHS Interns helped out with the Toys For Tots Stuff-A-Bus event on Sunday!

Thank you to BHS seniors Denrick Francis, Katherin Torres Sola, and Damon Alty for help counting, loading, and unloading over 4,000 toys the past few weeks!

Members of the SRO Unit celebrated SRO Dennis Stampfl who was presented with an award from the US Attorney Rachel Rollins for Excellence in Community Outreach and Prevention Award.

Also awarded was Eileen Moriarty, Assistant District Attorney, Danielle Iadonisi Whitney, Director of Community Programs, Det. Sgt. Andrew McLaughlin of the Orleans Police Department and SRO Bill Massey of the Chatham Police Department. Nice collaboration and presentation on Project Safe Neighborhood. Congrats to all for their hard work!

Today we remember Barnstable Police Officer
EDWARD THOMAS RICHARD LANDERS

Patrol Officer Edward Landers suffered a fatal heart attack while struggling with a subject at the scene of a domestic violence call.

The man resisted and a struggle ensued as Officer Landers attempted to arrest him. Officer Landers collapsed as he attempted to place the man into handcuffs. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officer Landers had served with the Barnstable Police Department for 24 years. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Calling all Rock Stars! Generation POUND fitness classes, led by Alyssa Chase, are coming to the Barnstable Police Department on Friday October 7 & 21st from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. These outdoor classes will take place in front of the Police Station (1200 Phinney's Lane). Generation POUND is a youth-oriented program that combines music and movement to improve focus, coordination, physical fitness and teamwork skills. The best part? These Generation POUND community classes are FREE! Parents must pre register on the BFree Wellness App. We hope to see you there!
