A heartfelt thank you to Houston Community College and VAST Academy for the warm welcome and for inviting the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities to participate in today’s Pathways Bridge to Careers Commitment Day. It was an honor to join in celebrating this meaningful occasion, which marks the beginning of an exciting academic journey for new students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) as they become part of the HCC community.

Congratulations to all the students embarking on this new chapter—we applaud your commitment and look forward to the incredible contributions you will make both in and beyond the classroom.

The HCC VAST Academy hosted a Commitment Day for our new Pathways Bridge to Careers program! Students and parents received more information about the community partnerships and resources readily available to support our Eagles on their journey to achieving the Level 1 & 2 Certificates and Associate degrees of their choosing.

Last week, HCC’s VAST Academy collaborated with the Digital Information & Technology Center of Excellence in hosting a phenomenal summer camp for students with disabilities. Students created designs using immersive VR/XR, 3D printing, and AI technologies from our Reality COLLAB. The final day featured team presentations and a celebratory award ceremony!
