If there is anything that is really a significant accomplishment over the years ... it is the motivation of my students to teach graphic arts software to students at other school districts as it relates to STEM/STEAM and core-subject areas:

https://edtecharts.blogspot.com/

This mentorship process involved intensive sessions of learning/practicing, and project application to make digital art. My students succeeded in not only keeping the attention of the other students, but also making them comfortable with the software and producing gratifying results. The two groups were so engaged throughout the process that the teachers present seemed secondary. My students had successfully gained a skill, and were empowered to convey what they knew to others.

Twenty-five high school students from Southwest Schools (Public Charter School) and Raul Yzaguirre School for Success spent their morning learning about Business Chemistry from our friends at Deloitte during a Deloitte Academy workshop. Students received guidance on identifying their individual business chemistry types. Students learned how to identify their strengths and discussed how those same attributes can also be challenges they can overcome. We thank Deloitte for their continued support of Houston-area student achievement and success!
Chasidy Celestine and Adrian Izaguirre from Harris County Department of Education met with students from Raul Yzaguirre School for Success over lunch. Emphasizing that you can combine different interests into a career - both work with youth programming but studied marketing and communications and were able to manifest both passions into their work with HCDE. Chasidy and Adrian both agree, a young professional, even if you are one of the youngest people in the room, doesn't mean your ideas aren't valuable. "Take a chance...speak up." Thank you Chasidy and Adrian for your time and for your motivational message!
