Univ. of Houston Neuroimaging Study
We are looking for healthy individuals AND individuals with
Type II Diabetes, aged 40 and over who a
Seeking diabetic and non-diabetic study participants for a project on brain imaging and diabetes
Faculty member Dr. Stacey Gorniak is seeking right-handed adults ages 40 and older to participate in a study investigating changes within the brain exhibited during motor tasks with cognitive components. She is looking for participants that either have (1) a current diagnosis of Type II Diabetes or (2) no health history of diabetes or related complications. Both groups (diabetic and non-diabetic) are needed to complete the study. Two visits of 2-2.5 hours each to the UH Main Campus will be required. Fifty dollars ($50) compensation will be provided for participation in each visit, for a total of $100 possible compensation for attending both visits. Compensation will be in the form of gift cards from either Amazon or Walmart. Parking validation will be provided. We are looking for healthy individuals AND individuals with Type II Diabetes, aged 40 and over who are right-handed, who are willing to visit our lab 2 times for 2.5 hours each:
• Test your cognitive functioning and memory
• Test your grip strength and balance
• Allow tests to be conducted while wearing a non-invasive imaging device
• Undergo a brief blood draw and body scan
• Wear a device that tracks your sleep and physical activity between sessions

$50 compensation will be provided for participation in each visit, for a total of $100 possible for attending both visits
