The Festival While TouchTomorrow will look a little different this year, we still have the same exciting opportunities to explore STEM and create new passions! All guests will need to register to have access to to the virtual festival taking place June 6-12, 2021. We can’t wait!

WJES third graders had a virtual visit to UGA's Nairn Wildlife Science Lab with Dr. Hardegree's daughter, Rachel Hardegree, who shared her Sea Turtle research with students as part of their unit on the impact of pollution on animal habitats. Our students had so many great questions and learned so much through their virtual visit! Thank you, Rachel!!

Our WJES Kindergarten went on a virtual field trip today with Georgia Youth Science & Technology Centers! This was an awesome beginning to our unit on understanding the difference and similarities in the day and night sky! Thank you, GYSTC, and thank you to our kindergarten families who are learning at home!

Would you like to participate in a great, local citizen science data collection project this weekend? All you need is 15 minutes (either Friday or Saturday), and an outdoor flowering plant, and you can particpate in the Great Georgia Pollinator Census! Just follow the directions at ggapc.org and you'll be able to say, "I counted!"

Today our first EVER West Jackson Elementary School Odyssey of the Mind teams competed in a regional tournament. These “first timers” impressed the judges and received so many positive comments. Mrs. Bulla and I are grateful to have had the chance to coach such thinking. ❤️ I think we’re HOOKED!! See you next year, ! 🦝

Our Odyssey of the Mind, creative problem solving teams are ready for competition! The Primary and Division 1 teams will compete against multiple teams from north Georgia on Saturday. These creative kids devised a solution, wrote their own scripts, and created their own props and costumes! Fingers crossed for these first year teams.
