Tap/Jazz-Mondays Ballet-Tuesdays Irish-Wednesdays Adult Classes-Thursdays
A note from Miss Lyza:
Ok everyone, here is the last installment of our virtual recital. This video features: Lily Burchard, Vivi-Ann Porter, Ally Buckley, Brianna Tingley, Alexis Smith, Emelia Wall (and her infamous giggle that I love so much),Matayah Sharp, Annabelle Franclemont, Sam Sexsmith, Ellie McCumiskey, Isabella Ramirez, and Ayla Amidon. I also put some family photos and some pictures from dance classes this year.
This song is called Leaving Of Liverpool. It’s typically an Irish song, but this song has a special place in my heart and I wanted to use it for the following lyrics: “so fair thee well, my own true love/when I return, United we will be.
It’s not the leaving of Liverpool that grieves me, but my darlin, when I think of thee”

Good morning. Today is recital day. Usually at this time on recital days I’m up early and running around making sure everything is ready for showtime. I’m usually excited and nervous. I’m usually not very nice when you ask me a question. Today is much different.
If you don’t know, one of my rituals is to get to the auditorium really early, when no one else is there, leave all of the lights off except the stage lights, sit on the edge of the stage with my feet dangling, sit alone and appreciate it. Take it all in.
This morning I’m doing that in my living room. This morning I’m sad for the world. I’m sad for the situation we are all in. I’m sad for the kids who won’t get their first time performing on stage this year. I’m sad for the seniors who won’t get the full “senior experience”. I’m sad for myself.
BUT....I’m also grateful that I am able to do what I love to do. I’m grateful for all of the wonderful and talented students that lift me up and make me smile on days like today. I’m thinking of the days ahead and excited for the days when we can dance together again...when we can look back and say “we made it through.” To my dancers, this is one of those days when we have to put on our sunglasses and say “deal with it”. I love you all so much. Let’s all JUST KEEP DANCING!
❤️ Miss Andrea
[05/07/20] Last call for pictures and videos! If you’d like your dancer included in our virtual recital, please make sure to send your pictures and/or videos by the end of the day.
The videos for our virtual recital are coming in! Please make sure to include photos of your dancer in their costume as well. I will be posting on Friday and Saturday, so get them in by Thursday evening.
Also, while I think it’s too soon to set a reopening date, I am making a plan to finish off this season. I really appreciate everyone’s patience during this time. I’m trying to come up with a safe way of moving forward. We all need to make peace with things being different for awhile... just keep dancing because the show must go on!!
Happy Saturday! Unfortunately, the recital will not be going forward as planned at the Canisteo-Greenwood High School next weekend. HOWEVER, we will be holding a “virtual recital” next Friday and Saturday right on this page. I’m already getting pictures and videos from students to post. It’s going to be quite different than what we are used to, but just like the old saying goes, “when life hands you lemons, make lemonade.”
Also, plans are being made for an event this summer....don’t despair, JUST KEEP DANCING!

Hi Everyone! Unfortunately, I don’t have any updates regarding reopening. While everything is still up in the air, I want everyone to know that I have a plan...several, actually. We will talk soon. Until then, just keep dancing!
It’s Flashback Friday, so here’s a picture of my very first day of teaching my own class back in September of 2001. I miss you all so much and can’t wait to see your smiling faces soon. Just keep dancing.
Hello everyone! Today was the initial date to return to the studio, but unfortunately, that is not possible. As soon as we are able, we will go back. Until then, STAY HOME AND JUST KEEP DANCING.
❤️ Miss Andrea
[04/03/20] If you ordered dance apparel, you will receive your items in the mail to cut down on contact. Thank you for being patient and understanding.
Hello everyone. I hope you’re all still healthy and doing your best! I’ve had some people asking me questions about what the plan is, what is the estimated date when we can resume dance classes, etc. The truth is, at this point, I don’t know. Everything changes by the hour. When it is safe and sensible to go back to the studio, I will let you all know. Until then, just keep dancing. See you soon!
❤️ Miss Andrea
[03/25/20] Just a reminder to keep making art. Just keep dancing!!!
Hello Everyone. I hope you are all staying healthy and doing your best during this difficult time. Over the last few days I have been reaching out to all of my students families to check in (please forgive me if I haven’t called you yet, I’m pacing myself) and make sure I can keep you updated as best I can. I just want everyone to know the kindness and understanding I have been greeted with on our phone calls has not gone unnoticed. In fact, it’s getting me through the day. It’s easy to take things for granted when we get wrapped up in busy schedules and busy lives. These last few days have been hard for everyone...and they will get harder as the days go on. I’m so grateful to all of you who have reached out and asked what they can do to help. Please know that I appreciate all of the kind words and gestures of encouragement I have received so far. I hope to reciprocate the kindness in any way I can. We are all going through this together and we will come out of this stronger than ever. I also want to give a special shout out to fellow dance teacher and the person who helped me decide to choose this path, Tarah Green. We have been talking almost daily to commiserate, cry, and, most importantly, come up with a plan. It’s a true testament of the power of dance and the arts of how they can bring people together.
When this is over, and it will be, we will dance again.
See you soon.
❤️ Miss Andrea
Hello everyone. After much thought and for the health and safety of everyone, I have decided to cancel all classes until April 13th. I did not make this decision lightly and have been agonizing over it for the last 24 hours. I had hoped to have classes to try to give kids a sense of normalcy, but I cannot, in good conscience, stay open. Needless to say, pictures have been canceled and will be rescheduled at a later date. I will also make plans to have make-up classes at a later date when we have all had a minute to take a deep breath and start to get back to normal. Please stay safe and healthy. Practice your dance routines. We love you. See you soon.
❤️ Miss Andrea
Hi Everyone. How are you today? I hope this message offers you a sense of calm and quiets any of the thoughts you have running through your head during these uncertain times.
The last few weeks have come at us pretty fast. It’s been hard to wrap our heads around all of the information. I’m doing my best to get through this and I’m sure you are too. As the situation involving COVID keeps accelerating, our habits and behaviors have to adapt accordingly. As of now, classes will still be held at the regular schedule. I have been vigilant in keeping the studio clean and sanitized to the best of my ability. We will be altering any choreography that involves holding hands or coming in super close contact with other students. Please know that the health of all students and the staff is the most important issue on my mind. For me, dance has always been an escape from the scary and unknown parts of life. I hope that when your child is in dance class, they can forget about all that stuff too...even if it’s just for 45 minutes once a week.
So, Miss Lyza and I are taking this on a day by day basis and will keep you updated if anything changes. Enjoy your weekend. Stay safe. Stay healthy. If you’re feeling sad or scared...DANCE, even if it’s in your living room.
❤️ Miss Andrea
