Operating as usual
More than 350 students and staff from Lincoln Elementary School in Hoffman Estates embarked on a live virtual field trip today to the Lincoln Home in Springfield. Students received a tour of the house, which is the only one President Abraham Lincoln ever owned, and learned about his family’s time there. "This was a way for us to be together to learn more about our school's namesake even if we weren't able to visit in person," Principal Abbie Eklund said about the all-school field trip. Some students indicated they can't wait to visit the home someday so they can touch the railing that President Lincoln himself touched! Pictured here, Principal Eklund shares some of the students' questions with National Park Ranger Isaiah as the group explored the parlor. #WeAreU46 Lincoln Home National Historic Site
Just a reminder...
There is school Monday and Tuesday next week but the building will be closed wednesday through friday.
[11/11/19] Please remember that after school pickup has two lanes. The right lane must exit right turn only and the left lane will exit via left turn only. This will allow us to keep cars moving and avoid long back ups on Congdon/Shoe Factory. It also allows us to ensure students are standing in safe areas while waiting for their rides. As always our first focus is student safety inside and outside of our building.
As the weather starts to turn, please remember to check for school closings www.emergencyclosingcenter.com for updated information. The district and schools will also send out messages as soon as decisions are made.
It is also important that your child has hats, gloves and a winter coat. We will monitor the weather closely to identify days when it is safe for children to go outside for recess. This includes both snow and temperature factors.

Please remember that after school pick up lot has a right OR left turn lane. There is no merging to exit the school lot. If you park and get out you will exit via a left. If you stay in your car you will exit via a right turn. Thank you for your cooperation and please share with your family who may occasionally pick up your child.
This helps us keep traffic moving through the lot and not back up onto shoe factory.
Grades 2 through 6 Curriculum night is tomorrow from 6:30 to 7:30pm.
See you all there!

Lincoln Elementary Principal Abbie Eklund loves visiting national parks in the summer with her husband, who is a teacher at South Elgin High School. But she always has a book with her in case she finds time to read - like 250 feet below ground in the Drapery Room at Kentucky’s Mammoth Cave National Park! #U46SummerReading #Principals

Healthy eating habits at Lincoln!
Lincoln Elementary School in Hoffman Estates, with support from the U-46 Food and Nutrition Services department, began piloting a "Farmers Market Bar" this week. Students have multiple options to choose from daily and self-serve the items they want. "The goal is to get more fresh fruits and veggies into student lunches," says Principal Abbie Eklund. "It was super exciting, and the students loved it!"
