Mission: At the Beth Tikvah Congregation Early Childhood Center, we provide an environment where children and families are accepted for who they are, and respected for their differences. Children are the center of our motivation for learning, growing, developing, and socializing, and in a way that is developmentally appropriate, fosters independence of skills and values the individuality of each child. We encourage children to take their individual learning to the next level by providing different stages of challenges that offer appropriate difficulty to individual children. We include the children’s interests and questions into our curriculum, offering opportunities for curiosity and exploration, and maintaining an environment in which the children feel loved and secure. Through social action projects, stories, discussions, and most importantly, teachable moments, we work together to instill “mensch-like” values in the children, and help them understand what it means to be and act as a good person. At Beth Tikvah, we want the children to have a knowledge of Jewish holidays, traditions and culture, and we also strive for the children to understand the “deeper” morals and messages of certain biblical stories, and how those morals/messages are relatable to their lives. The director and teachers are seen as extensions of the parenting unit as we work together to ensure that each child is being loved, nurtured, challenged and valued in a consistent manner between home and school. We believe that effective communication with children, families, and staff is critical in developing strong and meaningful relationships between every member of the preschool family.

For our girls.

Between the ages of 8 and 14, a girl's confidence level plummets.

By the time girls turn 14 years old, they are, on average, 30% less confident than their male counterparts.

And this has a ripple effect in every area of girls' lives - through high-school, college and beyond.

If you’re a parent, teacher, counselor, youth leader or anyone who cares about the mental health of girls, please join me for my most important training of the year.

How to Raise Strong, Confident Girls

Caring Reminders for Families During Stressful Times

How can you not love the late Mr. Rogers. Fred Rogers Productions shares some tips from Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood on how families, parents, and caregivers can relieve children’s insecurities and fears during these stressful and challenging times.

Good to know some of the reasons why young children bite, and how to talk/react to them.

Shaming and harsh punishment do not reduce biting. Instead, identifying and addressing the underlying cause is the best path to reducing the behavior.

Shabbat Shalom. We had an awesome 1st week of school. The yeladim were incredibly happy to be here, and so were we.

This is a great public service. It's a good idea to have a professional double check your child's carseat.

More than 90 percent of child car seats are installed or used incorrectly.
Proper use of a child restraint can lower a child’s risk of injury or death in most car crashes. Certified child passenger safety technicians will instruct parents and caregivers on proper use and installation of child restraints.

The Hoffman Estates Police Department is hosting a Child Safety Seat Check on Friday September 25th from 1pm to 3pm in the police department parking lot.
