Our Spring Programs this year were filled with wonderful music and lots of fun for all!

River Road Preschool proudly welcomed our Grandparents to visit last week! Four hundred and seventy five Grandparents joined us on Tuesday and Wednesday for classroom visits, a ceremony which featured student performances, and a beautiful reception with student photos and artwork on display. Forty-five preschool parents assisted to help these two mornings run smoothly!❤️

We have the winners!! Thanks to everyone who voted! First place is a TIE- Mrs. Fort’s ‘Take a Selfie’ and Mrs Adamson & Mrs Thacker’s ‘Polar Express’!! Second place goes to Mrs. Ravn & Mrs. Didlake’s ‘Happy Birthday Jesus’ and Third place goes to the Cassandra Ducca’s ‘Twinkly Tree’!

The 2nd Annual Door decorating contest is here and full of creativity and cheer! All of our classes and church offices have decorated their doors for Christmas! Please fill out a ballot in either the church or preschool offices or email [email protected] with your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices!! (Just a description of the door is fine.) Deadline to vote is Wed, Dec 15. We will announce our winners on Thursday-thanks for your vote!! Merry Christmas!!

In honor of River Road Church Preschool Development Center, we welcome the Rev. Chris Burton to the pulpit. Rev. Burton serves as Vice-President at Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities and is currently a doctoral student at Union Presbyterian Seminary. He and his wife, Brianna Burton, sent their son to our preschool in 2021-2022.

Now that September is coming to a close, here is a peek into the fun we have had a preschool this month! 🍎

We had a great first week of school at RRP! It has been wonderful to see our halls filled again with smiling faces! We hope you enjoy your long Labor Day weekend and we will see you on Tuesday!

Friday was our last day of summer camp- we said goodbye to some, and we now start to say hello to a new school year, children moving to a new age group and new families joining us! So, we hope that you all enjoy the rest of your summer- and we look forward to seeing many of you at Back to School events in just a few weeks! ☀️

It has been a MAGICAL time at our summer camp this week! We had a special visit from Cinderella today during our Castles, Knights and Princesses camp week! And guess what- even Cinderella is an alumni of our preschool! 👑🏰🪄

River Road Church Preschool Development Center River Road Church Preschool is Richmond's premier learning center for children ages 10 months to 5 years. River Road Preschool is a recipient of the National Child Care Center of the Year award.

This week, our Two year old classes had their time in the spotlight- with singing, art displays and dancing! Thanks to all of our families for attending!!

On two windy days, it was our PreK, JK, and Three year old classes that blew us away with their end of year performances and art samples! Thanks to all the families who came out to enjoy it with us!!

River Road Church Preschool Development Center Director Danielle Simone was awarded the Virginia Infant Toddler Network Director of the Year for the Central Region. Danielle was nominated for this award for her dedication to providing quality professional development and training opportunities for teachers not only at River Road Preschool, but in the Richmond and Henrico area. This year, RRP also piloted LENA Grows, a “talk pedometer” focused on increasing language modeling by teachers and increasing language acquisition in the classroom. Danielle has worked to introduce and include multiple area preschools with the state opportunities offered through the Virginian Infant Toddler Network and Child Development Resources, a nonprofit under the Virginia Department of Education. For her service, River Road Preschool was awarded $2500 in classroom materials for use in the Pre-Toddler and Toddler Classrooms. Congratulations, Danielle!

Today is our annual Teddy Bear clinic in our PreK classes. 🐻 🩹 🩺 There were a lot of injuries to our beloved stuffed animals, but all have been examined, X-rays taken, bandages applied, and lots of love given! 💕 Thank you Bon Secours Richmond Health System

As we wait for another round of wintry weather today, we wanted to show you some of the snowy and wintry activities we have been doing at the preschool over the past week!

RRP will be closed on Monday, January 3 due to HCPS closing for predicted incoming weather. Please check your email for future notices of closing if needed. Enjoy an extra day of break!

Yesterday was our Christmas Chapel for our Threes, PreK and JK classes. It was a lovely morning of song, prayer and learning about the Christmas Story. The morning festivities also included a special visitor in our halls!🎅

We had lots of Thanksgiving fun over the past week at preschool- feasts, our 2nd annual JK Turkey Trot, plenty of turkey talk, and even a few golf games! We are thankful for all of our students, their families and our staff and we wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!🦃🍽🍁

What a wonderful first week at preschool! It has been so nice to see everyone back! Here’s to a great 21/22 school year!

Our 21/22 Junior Kindergarten class has a few openings at the moment. Please share our post if you know someone who has a child with a summer 2016 birthday who may be interested in this class! Here are some important elements of this program:
• 5-hour school day with extended day options
• Wilson Language and Everyday Math curriculums build firm academic formations
• Led by teacher with current VA licensure
• Weekly journal writing, in-depth author explorations, science experiments, and a community focus throughout the year
• Resources include Fun Fitness; Creative Movement and Music; Art Lab, and Yoga
• Cooking with Snack and Roll and our own local chef
• Handwriting guided by OT Francis Farmer
• Afternoon enrichments offered to just JK: Soccer Shots, CORE, Art Haus, etc.

Well that’s a wrap on the first three weeks of summer camp fun! Have a wonderful summer and we hope to see you for session 2!

Two more wonderful family events this week-this time with our youngest crew! We are thankful for being together to enjoy the beautiful weather and picnic, and of course for the ice cream joy too!

Our PreK, JK, and Three Year Old classes gave us two wonderful performances this week on the front lawn of the church! Thank you for joining us for these, the family picnic, Chris Campbell performance and ice cream truck! It was wonderful to have everyone together to celebrate the ending of this unique school year!❤️

We are so very grateful and touched by the donations that were sent in by our families to the Fellowship Fund at River Road Church, Baptist! You all added $2,738.55 to this fund which assists community members in need! Thank you for your generous support! ❤️ River Road Church, Baptist

What a lovely week our families treated our staff to for Teacher Appreciation week! The flowers, the meals, the treats, the special thoughts, drawings, and goodies are all much appreciated! Thank you for the love!! ❤️ Happy Spring Break!!

Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail!! There were Easter Egg hunts throughout the week- here are some glimpses of the fun! Happy Easter!🐇

Today was a very special day at River Road Preschool- we held 2 separate Easter Chapel services: one for the Three Year Olds and one for the Pre-Kindergarteners/Junior Kindergarteners. This is the first time we have been able to hold our monthly chapels in the actual chapel this year!! The Church’s Children’s Minister (and PreK teacher), Sandy Rooney, shared a special Easter prayer. Kay Starke, our Curriculum Coordinator read a special story for each group. During the 4/5 year old service, our JK class led all the children in the poem ‘Five Little Children Came to Church on Easter Day’. The children entered and recessed singing some of our favorites: Jesus Loves the Little Children, Here is the Church, and Hallelujah, Allelujah! Both were glorious services- and we are so thankful!! ⛪️❤️

This week was all about Dr. Seuss here at RRP! Children of all ages got in the spirit by dressing wacky on Wednesday, wearing silly socks and hats, and days of dressing in red, green and blue! There were plenty of activities with green eggs, red fish and blue fish, wockets in pockets and other Seussical fun!
