On Wednesday, August 31st at 1PM, the Autism Research Institute and Amy Moore Gaffney, M.A., CCC-SLP, are hosting "Back to School Strategies for Students with Autism 2022". This Zoom-based webinar will cover evidence-based strategies for supporting students with autism as they transition back to the classroom. This talk will be presented in English, but there will be live Spanish interpretation as well.

A national speaker twice on the topic of health disparities among Black pregnant women, she does so much for us and for Berkeley County. Her leadership & determination to help expecting & young families permeates our team and exemplifies our mission.

Today we especially celebrate Simone and her contributions to our agency and the field of early care!

Tomorrow night Charleston County Parks is inviting those with disabilities, their families, and their caregivers to enjoy an evening of dancing & celebration. The evening’s theme is Fairy Tale. Come dressed in your best attire, and dance the night away to your favorite music!

He'll be reading from the book "The Girl Who Thought in Pictures: The Story of Dr. Temple Grandin" by author Julia Finley Mosca and illustrator Daniel Rieley. Children will learn about autism, using their own disability to become a hero, and how sometimes it's good not to fit in.

FAMILY PLAY DAY ● Families with young children ages 0-5 are invited to join us and @TriCountyPlayCollaborative (of which we are a part) for a Family Play Day on Folly Beach!

We'll be joining forces with Y2O (Youth to Ocean) for a free two-hour surfing, fishing, and educational experience, starting off with very beginner surf lessons in shallow areas and casting nets to explore marine life. This event is inclusive! Parking passes & gas cards are available upon request.

The honor recognizes an AmeriCorps member who has demonstrated outstanding service to young children, their families, and communities. Sam has served most recently as the family & community engagement coordinator of Tri-County Play Collaborative, of which we are a part and a founding member.

“Sam is a servant leader with inclusive ideas for rethinking how we can engage families and communities and ensuring that all children start school ready to reach their highest potential,” says Ashley Brailsford, program director for Tri County Play Collaborative. “She is our boots on the ground, go-to person for leading events, coordinating activities with partners, and following up on the needs of families.”

FRIDAY IN ST. STEPHEN ☼ Join Betty’s Day Care this Friday, July 8, from 10 AM to 1 PM to celebrate the end of the school year!

The whole community is invited. Kids will love the snow cones, jump castle, petting &, and more… and for the grown-ups they’ll have the Sweet Cream Café Food Truck, a COVID pop-up clinic courtesy of SC DHEC, and rental & utility assistance courtesy of the Community Action Agency.
