God Bless you Pastor Ed- thank you so much for your Words of Hope today on this Easter morning. And your songs of praise to our Risen Savior. Happy Easter to you and your family.
July 24-26 Shipwrecked VBS at St. Paul, hosted by Settlement, dinner 5:30-6:00pm, VBS program 6:00-8:00pm. this is a Thrivent action team event. Send your kids on an impacting island adventure! At Shipwrecked VBS, kids discover how Jesus retrieves us through life’s storms. Shipwrecked is filled with incredible Bible-learning experiences kids see, hear, touch, and even taste! Sciency-Fun Gizmos™, team-building games, cool Bible songs, and tasty treats are just a few of the standout activities that help faith flow into real life. (Since everything is hands-on, kids might get a little messy. Be sure to send them in play clothes and safe shoes. Also they will need a swim suit and towel for Thursday from 7:30-8:00pm) Plus, we’ll help kids discover how to see evidence of God in everyday life—something we call God Sightings. Get ready to hear that phrase a lot!
We have the BEST church family! 16 people showed up on Sunday afternoon to help us pack up the last of our house items. Thank you SO MUCH! You turned a daunting task into a pleasant afternoon with friends. We feel the love!
Just wanted to share something with everyone...since mom had to work on Thanksgiving, we had a turkey dinner Sunday night...and, per the Sunday morning sermon, we took the bread and 'wine' that Pastor Jason and Megan had provided, and placed it at the center of our feast.
Of course, this led our little girls to ask where the rest of the dinner rolls were, and why the juice was just sitting in the middle of the table.
This provided us with an opportunity to explain the importance of the bread and wine in our religion, and what that means in relation to their personal relationship with Jesus. This was actually a really amazing conversation, and I hope that the rest of the congregation will take Pastor Jason's words to heart and place the body and blood of our Savior at their Thanksgiving meals...after all, Jesus isn't just the reason for the Christmas season! He's enabled us to relish our Thanksgiving WITH thanksgiving, too!
