OK it is back to the grind after all this time. I have got something in the works to liven this site up. I am also a moderator for the Grandview Rant and Rave page here on Facebook. In the coming weeks I have an article I will be writing about heart disease and some of the treatments. I do think the information I have received is top notch and very informative. Feel free to critique the article. I may have to break it into sections but I do think it will be good. I am so looking forward to it.

Click here to support Rex Prior Emergency Fund organized by Carl Hawke This magnifiicant man has led a hard but rewarding life. Like everyone else, he too fell on hard times and seems to have found him yet again. On November 15th he told me the doctors had found a tumor behind his heart and wanted to do surgery on him the following Wednesday. He was reluctant at...

Just in the last couple of weeks have been really rough for the company. My beloved friend and co-owner of the office in Spavinaw, OK, Rex H. Prior has become deathly ill and right now is struggling to make it. The update I have received today was a great one for sure. He is alert and is coherent but is on dialysis 3 times a week now. Rex is a cancer survivor as many know but now is faced with a few more issues which have came up. He is now suffering with myelodysplastic syndrome and now required to have another shot added to his routine. His diabetes is still not helping the issues right now. All of this came about after having chest surgery 2 weeks ago where the doctors removed a 2 cm tumor from behind his heart. Rexx can use all the prayers and hope he can handle right now and on into his recovery. Keep looking in as I will post his progress and any news on his condition.

First Aid

First aid is the assistance given to an injured or sick person in need of urgent medical assistance. First aid applies to a broad range of medical situations and consists both of specific knowledge and skills (for example, what to do for each type of injury or illness) and the ability to assess a situation and make appropriate decisions (such as when to call for emergency medical assistance).

First Aid Kit

Preparedness is a key element of first aid. While every home, auto, and boat should be equipped with a basic emergency kit that includes first aid supplies and a first aid manual, special circumstances may necessitate more advanced or specific degrees of preparation for an emergency. For example, residents of certain geographic areas where natural disasters (such as hurricanes, earthquakes, tornados, floods, landslides, or tsunamis) may occur should prepare for emergencies by assembling disaster preparedness kits such as earthquake kits, flood kits, andevacuation kits.

Travelers should also prepare to administer first aid in the region they plan to visit. In many developed countries, this may amount to packing a standard first aid kit and manual with your belongings. Medicines to prevent motion sickness and advanced awareness about the management of traveler's diarrhea are also helpful to travelers. In the developing world or in remote regions, a travel medicine kit should include medicines and supplies that may not be available for purchase as well as any specific products (such as insect repellant to prevent mosquito and tick bites) needed for your destination. It's also important for travelers in foreign countries to learn how to access emergency services by telephone.

CPR and First Aid Certification

Being prepared to administer effective first aid can also involve learning specific skills such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or abdominal thrusts to assist choking victims. First aid may be required for medical emergencies such as heart attack, stroke, or seizures as well as for minor medical conditions like nosebleed and mild allergic reactions. Environmental injuries (sunburn, poison ivy, heat exhaustion, frostbite, bee or insect stings) and traumatic injuries (strains, sprains, burns, puncture wounds, and cuts as well as more severe internal injuries) are other situations where first aid skills can be invaluable.
Regardless of your level of skill or degree of first aid training, if you find yourself in a true medical emergency, always call 911 for emergency medical assistance immediately. Likewise, if you are involved in any medical situation that is beyond your personal abilities to provide first aid, you should never hesitate to summon emergency medical assistance right away.

Loved this show growing up. I guess this is the reason I am here today.

45 years ago today, Emergency! premiered. It was a joint production of Mark VII Limited in association with Universal Television for NBC. It debuted as a midseason replacement on January 15, 1972, on NBC, replacing the two short-lived series The Partners and The Good Life, and ran until May 28, 1977, with six additional two-hour television films during the following two years.
Emergency! was created and produced by Jack Webb and Robert A. Cinader, both of whom were also responsible for the police dramas Adam-12 and Dragnet. Harold Jack Bloom is also credited as a creator; Webb does not receive screen credit as a creator in the show's original TV-movie pilot, being only credited as its director.
The series starred Randolph Mantooth and Kevin Tighe as two specially-trained firefighters who formed Squad 51, part of a then-innovative field known as paramedics who were authorized to provide initial emergency medical care to victims of accidents, fire and other incidents in the field. The plot of the initial pilot film described the passing of state legislation, signed by Governor Ronald Reagan, and was called the The Wedsworth-Townsend Act. It allowed the creation of paramedic units. Squad 51 worked in concert with the (fictional) Rampart General Hospital medical staff (portrayed by Robert Fuller, Julie London, and Bobby Troup), who took over each patient's case from the paramedics who worked in the field.
Nearly 30 years after Emergency! debuted, the Smithsonian Institution accepted Emergency! memorabilia into its National History Museum, public-service section, including their helmets, turnouts, biophone, and defibrillator.

Hi everyone. Thank you for liking this page. Just to give you an update on what is going on with EMS, right now I am sitting in Pheonix, AZ finishing up some training for a new job. Once I return back to Kansas City I will resume CPR/ First Aid training as I was before. Right now I have a couple of HCP courses on hold until I return.
I want to get a shout out to my partner in crime in Spavinaw, OK. He has been going through some medial stuff & I am so glad to hear you are doing better. We will get together soon I am hoping sir.
The new standards for AHA came out as of 1 Jan, 2016. Though, there are some hanges in the course itself but luckily this year, nothing has changed with the procedure itself. For those of you who may have forgotten, smart phones have multiple apps available for free and some pay per downloads. There are also apps to find AEDs and also to walk one through the CPR procedure. This in itself was the biggest change.
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. If you are in need of a course, drop me a line and we can work on sheduling a time to get it done. I look forward to talking to yall. Have a great year and God bless.

Just had a nice class for healthcare provider CPR recertification. It was great to get in front of somebody and be able to show them what they needed to do. I hope that she is very successful in the future over at North Kansas City Hospital. And I hope to see her again and continue our work.
