Teachers should get to know their students as if they were their own; to truly have appreciation for each child’s potential, strengths and weaknesses. We also believe that in order for children to fully let go and feel comfortable and at ease to express themselves, the learning environment inside the daycare must be set at a friendly, warm, structured, tone. Here at K-Kollege we should know our children’s capabilities and incapability’s. Our expectations will be set high; however, we will be sensitive to their developmental and academic needs. By raising our expectations and support for learning, higher achievement will result. Extensive research shows that expectations exert powerful influences upon both children and teacher behaviors, whether the expectations come from an external source or are held internally as self-expectations. I firmly believe that children should understand why they are learning, what they are learning, and also be instructed on how it will benefit their lives in the future. Classroom culture is more than just "rules and regulations." From the first day of opening, it is important to set a positive tone for the year. I begin this by focusing not on academics, but on one of the most important aspects of school, which is the student-teacher and student-student relationships. We want each and every one of our students to be able to let go and freely express themselves. The teacher must create a warm and protective environment, but at the same time maintain a level of professionalism. If students feel secure in the classroom the results will be shown in the academic progress.
