Students attend their first community service event of the year at Saint Mary's Food Bank. First year students work together with the second year returning students. Great Job guys! A great start to a new year.

Students got together with Avionics program for their end of the year banquet. Thank you to Mr. Gabaldon, Miss Tanesha, and Miss Shaunna for organizing this event. Students and instructors bring the programs to a close with the distribution of awards to the CTSO Officers and participating students of the Region 5 and State competitions. Congratulations to all students for completing Year 1 of Precision Manufacturing and Avionics.

Students celebrate the end of the year and their teacher's birthday. Mr. Gil was grateful for the student's efforts to thank him for his hard work. Just goes to show how respect will be met with equal respect and thankfulness. These students have worked hard this year in making this program their own along with the help of Mr. Gil.

Students celebrate yet another project completion. 60 West-MEC engraved Step Gages were made for Mr. Olivas by the class. Mr. Olivas helps us celebrate as he grills us some hot dogs. Thank you Mr. Olivas and the West-MEC Precision Manufacturing class for completing yet another project.

SkillsUSA CNC Precision Manufacturing officers have chosen new officers to join the council. We would like to welcome:
Asa Gutierrez as our new President
Payton Jones as our new Secretary and
Zachary Meenk as our new Treasurer.
These students have shown great potential in our class and we hope to see them progress with us.

Students begin preparation for CNC Program. Learning how to convert a blueprint into a HAAS Mill Program. This is a Blueprint for the Mounting Base of the Flame Eater Sterling Engine.

Students at SkillsUSA Region 5 Competition on Saturday, February 21st. Competitors were:
Speech: Frank Enriquez, Hayden Horine and Othoniel Garcia Gonzalez
Job Skill Demo: Payton Jones and Ruby Piedra
Job Interview: Zachary Meenk and Asa Gutierrez
Students did a great job and three students, Payton Jones, Zachary Meenk and Ruby Piedra, made it to the second round. Although none of the students won the competition, they have learned from this experience and will be competing at the State Competition. A Huge thanks to all the judges, and to their teacher, Mr. Gil Guillia. Also thanks to Mr. Ron Kalmbach for their help in preparing and guiding these students.

Our Medical Assisting students are working with Do Something.org to lead a campaign gathering used or new jeans for America's homeless teens.

Students begin to learn G-Code in order to program the CNC Mill and Lathe. CNC stands for computer numerical control. It is a versatile system that allows you to control the motion of tools and parts through computer programs that use numeric data. CNC can be used with nearly any traditional machine. The most common CNC machines found in the machine shop include machining centers (mills) and turning centers (lathes).

Students finish Light Saber after weeks of production. Results are impressive.

Students on December 19, 2014 celebrating the end of their first semester and ready to begin the next. We had Mr. Donovan and the focus group visit our program and we are proud to show how great the program is being run by our teacher, Mr. Gil, with their help.

Precision Manufacturing students participated in the Blue Star Moms event held on campus along with Avionics and Aviation students. They wrote letters to troops who could not spend the holidays with their families and packaged supplies and essentials for troops in need. Blue Star Moms is an amazing organization that supports our troops and their families. West-MEC students were proud to have participated in this event.

Best part about working in groups, is that we learn from each others mistakes and keep going.

Officers Ruby Piedra (Reporter), Frank Enríquez (Vice President), and Jordan Chamberlain (President) along with our campus director, Mr. Gabaldon were invited to attend the Arizona Manufacturing Summit 2014 Luncheon with the Governor of Arizona on October 3rd, 2014.
