Deborah J. Waller "Debbie" Davis
Obituary
Phoenix - Debbie, 63 years young, unexpectedly departed her earthly body to join her Heavenly Father, her father, Charlie, her mother, Sylvia, her mother-in-law Helen and her other relatives and friends for eternity. She was born in Hayti, MO, and moved to Phoenix with her family in 1958 where she graduated from Cartwright Elementary and Maryvale High School. After graduation, Debbie accepted a position with the Arizona Game & Fish Department and then later became an entrepreneur. She joined with her family in a sporting goods store in the new Maryvale Mall and then embarked on a 27 year career as the owner of a uniform/apparel silk-screening/embroidery business where, as each customer will attest, her focus was on and she provided exceptional customer service. Debbie is lovingly remembered by her soul-mate of 42 years, Dennis "D.P.", sons Scott (Denise) & Jeff, the loves of her life-grandchildren, Ryan and Rachel, sister Yvonne Symmonds (Larry), numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces and many Best Friends Forever. A memorial service to celebrate Debbie's remarkable life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Christ's Church of the Valley-Scottsdale, 19030 N. Pima Road. She was a one-of-a-kind and will truly be loved and missed forever.

Duane Alfred Charlesworth Obituary
Charlesworth, Duane Alfred
of Litchfield Park, Arizona passed away on October 2, 2016 at the age of 85. He was the son of Alfred and Alma (Zieter) Charlesworth of Waterman and the youngest of his siblings, now all deceased, Olive Trumpour, Donald Charlesworth and Elaine McKirgan. Duane was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Hinckley, Illinois. He attended Waterman High School, graduated in 1949, and thoroughly enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and being active in FFA. During this time, he was also getting to know his classmate and future wife, Dolores (Moudy). As a basketball player, his one claim to fame was playing against the original Harlem Globetrotters on the Waterman Town Team and guarding Marques Haynes. Duane and Dolores were married on July 5, 1952 at the Waterman United Methodist Church. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served 4 years during the Korean War, 18 months of which were spent in Japan. Upon discharge, he attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, earning his B.A. and M.A. in Education. He was grateful for the G.I. Bill which allowed him to gain his college education while living in converted army barracks on campus and working part time. He began his Business Education teaching career at Odell Community High School in Odell, Illinois in 1958 and then relocated to the Phoenix area in 1963 to continue teaching at Maryvale High School and Glendale Community College, retiring in 1991. In his 32 years in public education, many young lives were positively impacted but he would often say, "In the classroom, I am not your friend, I am your teacher." There was no "fooling around" in his classroom. Duane was a husband to Dolores for 64 years, and a father to Greg (Deb), Michael, David (Didi), Julie (Gil) Garcia, and Karen (Ed) Reed, and grandpa to Clifton and Kyle Charlesworth, Nathan Bradfield (Shawn Kringen), John (Annie) Good, Josh (Brenna) Good, and Katelyn, John, and Alec Garcia, and great g-pa to Jacob, Leah, Astasia, Kaiden, Kaycie, Nevaeh, Trinity, Fiona and Daniel, and uncle to several nieces and nephews in Illinois. Duane enjoyed a good barbershop quartet and sang in one in high school. He also enjoyed coaching Little League, being an encourager at soccer and badminton games, building model airplanes, doing crossword puzzles, playing Solitaire on the computer, fixing things around the house, and watching sports on his new TV screen. For 53 years, he was known to be present at morning worship at his home church, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Phoenix, always wearing dress shoes and a nice shirt. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 9, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 6301 W. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association Camp AZDA (youth camp for children with diabetes), 5333 N. 7th Street, Suite B-212, Phoenix, AZ 85014, or to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 6301 W. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85033.

I have a number of obituaries I have found online that I have to guess the year they graduated MHS by their age. Then I have this one without an age anywhere so I am guessing maybe 1970? Does anyone have yearbooks to try and verify? Or maybe a Classmates subscription to search for years. I have a few that I am not sure about... HELP!!!
Does anyone know????

We are building an all year alpha index too. Sometimes you don't know the class year. This will tell you. First it is a first name alpha. Next I will do a last name alpha list.
The memorial history is up to date now on the website posting all of the previous content at

People in memories of MHS Panthers...

Maryvale places in memories...
Thank you everyone for your support! I was dreaming all night of how to post the Memorial Pages. I want to create a PDF for each year that can be viewed online or ordered at a download or even hard copy! I would love your help in updating each year. Let me know who is missing and all facts, photos and contacts for verification.

Timeline photos

1968-1972 they sold this postcard in the bookstore at Maryvale High School. That's what the front looked like when I went to school there. I know it is very different now.
The first step is to get about 30 likes so Facebook recognizes us as a real Page. So get all of your Maryvale Alumni friends to like this page. This site will not take anything away from all of the great Maryvale pages out there already. i would like to link them here too.
So a year ago the fellow who owns the rights to the maryvalepanthers domain agreed to transfer the domain back to me if I paid the $120 for the year. I did pay him but never was able to get him to transfer the domain.
So I began to build another new site. But then I decided why not just use Facebook... So here it is. I will attempt to build all of the content from the old site including the Memorial right here.
