Protein is necessary for the growth and maintenance of your tissues, is essential for various biochemical reactions within your body (such as digestion, blood clotting, and muscle contraction), improves your immune system by helping to form antibodies, and so many other cool things! How much protein you need to consume in a day varies based on oneโs health and levels of physical activity. It is recommended to eat approximately 0.36 grams of protein per pound of body weight per day (which is about 54 grams per day for a 150 lbs sedentary person). If you are more physically active then you may need more for optimum performance and recovery.
