It’s that time of year again – our annual spring fundraiser, Move with KP Kids, is here! Vaughn kicked things off today, Minter will get started on Monday, and Evergreen follows on Wednesday. Keep an eye out for videos and pictures from all the exciting assemblies! We’re thrilled to work together in teaching kids about healthy habits and making the KP community an even better place to learn!
A HUGE shout-out to the Key Peninsula Firefighters and Key Peninsula Fire for making this incredible event possible for the fourth year in a row! Together, we’ve raised over $40,000 for our schools, and we’re aiming to add even more to that total this year. This generous support has funded so many amazing programs including field trips, theater productions, assemblies, recess equipment, teacher grants, staff appreciation, family connection events, yearbooks, spirit wear, and SO much more!
If you'd like to support our efforts, you can find the donation link in the comments below. If you own a business, be sure to include your business name so we can add you to our sponsor list! Thank you for your support!

Dear PSD Community,
Please take a few minutes to listen to the speech we gave to the school board last night. We believe it will be eye-opening for many of you. We know we've continued to bring up PSD's plan to move principals to different schools, but our schools are hurting. Our staff and students are sad and deeply concerned, so we don’t feel like we can let this go. We believe our staff and students deserve parents who will stand beside them and fight for them.
We attended the school board meeting last night and waited three and a half hours to speak, finally taking the mic at 9:30 p.m. The entire Minter Creek staff came to the meeting. Those who couldn’t attend due to child care watched from home. They sat in a hot, overcrowded room for hours just to lend their presence and voices to this moment.
The room was filled with PSD community members - parents, staff, and others who care deeply and are very very concerned. Some of us didn’t have child care, so we took turns watching each other’s kids and trying to keep them quiet. It was exhausting. And it was worth it.
At the end of the night, there were tears. There were hugs. There was heartbreak. Teachers expressed deep disappointment and sadness over what is happening in our district. They are tired of being silenced. They are tired of not being heard.
If you are a PSD parent, we urge you - go check in on your teachers. In person. Don’t rely on email or social media. Many are afraid to speak there. The district’s staff expression policy makes it risky for them to share openly. But if you ask them face-to-face, we hope they will tell you how they feel.
If you are a PSD staff member, and you’re concerned, please talk to your parents. We are listening. We care. We are here. Change doesn’t always come from following the “proper channels.” Sometimes it comes when people lock arms and say, “Enough.”
I’m collecting anonymous quotes from PSD staff members to help parents understand what you're really feeling. If you have something to say, please send it to me. I promise to protect your identity.
Our schools are not okay. And we can’t keep pretending they are. There are serious issues facing our district including bullying, declining enrollment, and a growing sense of mistrust between families, staff, and leadership. We have to talk about it. There is a path forward, but it begins with honesty, community collaboration, informed support, and rebuilding trust through strong relationships. The district cannot effectively support our schools if they don’t truly understand what’s happening inside them.
If you have concerns, please sign our petition. The link is in the comments.
To watch the speeches, go to hour 3:26, and the speeches will start shortly after that. I would also encourage you to listen to the two men who speak after us on the same topic.
I've made this post public, please share so we can get our community talking.

Hi everyone,
There’s been some confusion about why the Minter Creek PTA, and many others in the PSD community, are concerned about the district’s new strategy to rotate principals. I’d like to help clarify our position and why this matters for our schools. If you share our concerns, please consider signing our community petition. Thank you for your support!
Why Forced Principal Rotation Hurts our Schools
PSD announced a new strategy to regularly rotate principals across the district, stating that it will “bring fresh perspectives and opportunities.” As the Minter Creek PTA President for the past three years, I feel compelled to express deep concern about the impact this approach will have - not just on Minter Creek, but across all KP schools.
According to the district, Mr. Hering is among the principals being reassigned to a school that needs him. But Minter Creek needs him. Under Mr. Hering’s leadership, our school has experienced steady growth in trust, collaboration, and community engagement. Removing a principal who is making a positive, measurable impact feels like a huge step backward.
Strong principals are the heart of great schools. They build relationships with students, support and retain great teachers, and shape a positive, stable environment. These connections take time to establish. Forced rotation disrupts that foundation and sends the message that consistency and strong relationships in leadership are not valued.
Each school community is unique. A principal who knows the people, challenges, and culture of their school is far more effective than someone new. Frequent leadership changes create instability, lower staff morale, and ultimately affect our children’s learning experience.
While it's important to address underperformance and ensure equitable access to strong leadership, this strategy is a blunt tool. Instead, the district should focus on supporting principals where they are thriving, and coaching or replacing those who are not. Forced rotation can demotivate high-performing principals. This can drive talent out of the system entirely.
Our children deserve thoughtful, stable leadership. The forced rotation strategy undermines that, and we urge PSD to reconsider this decision for the sake of our entire community. If you are concerned as well, please reach out to all of our board members and PSD.
Our petition link is in the comments and for everyone in the PSD community. If you have concerns, please consider signing and sharing the petition.
We have also included links to articles supporting stable leadership in schools.

A lot of you have asked for an online petition against the changes happening at Peninsula School District regarding regular principal rotations, so we created one. If you have similar concerns, please consider signing the petition below by clicking the link. Minter Creek PTA will present the petition to the school board at the next meeting on April 22nd at 6 pm at Swiftwater Elementary.

STREAM Night was so fun!!! Thank you to everyone who showed up! The Foote family ran a 3D printing station and were selling some of their designs to help our 5th graders pay to go to camp this year. 50% of anything purchased through the end of the week will go towards meeting the 5th graders fundraising goals. We brought home a dragon egg, but they have a ton of different items including cups and nightlights. If you didn't get a chance to buy one last night, then you can contact them through the information shown in the picture. Thank you Andrew and Tia Foote!
