10 FFX Wrestlers down at NHSCA Nationals!

Freshman and Sophomores go total 3-4 with Harry Maltese Punching to the Freshman Nationals Quarters!

Juniors and Seniors go 4-2 in Round 1 and then a tough Rd 2 with all dropping bouts going into the consolations.

Excited for Day 2 to keep the NHSCA All American dream alive!

Team GPA 3.53

Of all the accomplishments that came with this historic season, this is what I’m most proud of as a Coach. Day in and Day out I preach the virtues of what it means to be a real STUDENT-Athlete.

Not because it’s what the parents, AD’s, or teachers want to hear. It’s because living ask that of you. To COMPETE in the classroom on quizzes and test. To compete against your fellow student athlete and sports teams. But most importantly to compete against yourself academically.

This year we completed our Team GPA goal of 3.4. Two years ago we made it our goal to hit at 3.1 GPA. This was accomplished from 120hrs of Study Hall this season. 7.5hrs a week & 1.5 hours a day.

Our Team Valedictorian Kendan Vu had a 4.85 GPA!

16 Wrestlers with over a 4.0 GPA
25 Wrestlers with over a 3.5 GPA

You cant be a great wrestler without having the school in line. Both are interconnected, the way you do one thing is the way you do everything!

It’s not about setting a kid up for athletic success in the 4 years they are here, it’s about the next 40 through the value of education.

Big weekend of wrestling for us here at Fairfax Wrestling.

Started off with Mauro Pellot wrestling at D3 Nationals on Friday. He is now a 2x NCAA Qualifier!

Saturday had 14 of our kids wrestle at the MAWA District Qualifier. Ali Khajawa Champion! Coach T wrestled in the open division an secured another Championship!

Sunday had Alex Belaoula and Mo down at Super States. Alex B took 2nd at 157lbs!

Sunday had Eddie Cruz and Lorenzo Pellot represent Team VA against VA vs MD all star match! Coach Q helped coach Team VA to a 45-15 win over Maryland!

Look forward to this off season of learning, growing, and having fun!

Congratulations to Coach Marsh, Coach T, Coach Tallon, Coach Nando, & Coach Ramsey for being selected!

Huge, huge accomplishment! Coach Marsh has been with the program since 2017! He has coached several sets of brothers in his time including the Everard’s and Pellot’s who are culture keepers of our program!

Coach T has now been with the program for 3 years. His D1 National Qualifier mentality has translated well with all our guys. Also keeps our guys looking fresh with his clothing brand!

Coach Tallon on year 2 and his ability to bring his College Coaching Career to us has helped tremendously. His ability to form relationships and devour some glicks has made our team chemistry strong!

Coach Nando and Ram are on year 1. Their ability to Coach and develop our guys has been shown on the mat. They also led our JV to stellar historic year.

Most important of all these guys live the lifestyle we instill in our guys. LIONSTYLE starts from the top down!

Fairfax Wrestling is deeply indebted to you all and Coach Q couldn’t function without you guys.

We had a special guest at practice today! Elia Ahmadian who was a 2x District Champion, Region Champion, State Qualifier, and a part of the 96’ team that won a Region title while only having one champion!

He shared a lot of stories about the 96’ team and some good ole Coach Sutterfield stories! We are grateful for him coming in and sharing the stories and showing us details on his favorite tilts!

Fairfax Wrestling would like to take the time to thank Canaan Bethea for coming in to talk to our team about Post-Season Mindset and about !

Canaan was a 2x NCAA qualifier while at the University of Pennsylvania, Assistant Wrestling Coach at George Mason University, and current Professor who is finishing his Doctorate in Sports Psychology!

Coach Canaan also had Coached Coach Q and Coach T while they competed at George Mason University.

Our JV team brought the HEAT at the World Championships 😤

Best performance we’ve ever had at JV Worlds. Guys were battled tested, watched other JV kids eat Donuts and hotdogs before the match, but WE stayed composed and focused on our bouts.

Super proud of Ben Kirkwood. Ben is a FFX Wrestling alumni 21’. He was District and Region Champion while also taking 5th at the 6A State Tournament at 195lbs in 2021.

Ben graduated from NOVA Community college in 1 year while taking a heavy load and getting his associates degree. He is now looking to finish his undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech in the coming years.
