Congregation Kneseth Israel

For you, Rabbi Margaret Frisch Klein, Rabbi Maralee Gordon, Risa Cohen, Helen Lindow, Gene Lindow, and anyone else who asked for this yesterday but is not my Facebook friend yet. Enjoy!
I'm hoping for a streaming Havdalah service
Great morning celebrating Chanukah as a community. The 2nd/3rd grade class read one of my favorite stories: The Christmas Menorahs about a community coming together so everyone could celebrate their holiday without fear. We got started making our 8 colorful dreidels for 8 nights. And learned some new things about Chanukah. We even learned some new ways to celebrate like my AR menorah that they all got to interact with through my phone. Then we joined the rest of the school for the festival of fried foods and had a fantastic time. Happy Chanukah all!
Big news from The Jewish Theatre of Elgin! Playwright Terry Lawrence will be traveling from Vermont to do a talk back after the 3:00 performance of Rosenstrasse on Sunday Nov 4th. Tickets purchased to any performance gives you access to the talkback. Get your tickets now before they are gone:
Due to the threat of thunderstorms, CKI will not have a table.
Children of all ages are invited to the Elgin City of Peace Community Storytime TONIGHT at 7:00 p.m. at Congregation Kneseth Israel. Peg Lehman will be reading the delightful book "In God's Name" by Sandy Eisenberg Sasso about all the different names we have for God.
I hope this is ok to post, if not please delete and let me know. I'm in need of a part-time nanny, 12-24hrs per week. We live in West Dundee and have a 3-month old and 3-yr old. If anyone knows someone looking to lovingly care for our girls when I return to work in 3 weeks, can you please message me? Thank you!

Margaret Klein's review of Shanghai Sukkah

Great book to introduce people to Kristalnacht and Jews who survived the Holocaust in Shanghai. We read it to the Torah School yesterday. 5/5: I have known many Holocaust survivors who left Europe and made their way to Shanghai. About 40,000 Jews were rescued this way.
