This is a video from this time last year. In between students I dediced to play and sing The Christmas Song. The video and sound quality need a lot of improvement. I think I did this using my phone. I've since started using an overhead camera and have improved my lighting, but could really use a good, but affordable, microphone for teaching and doing my own thing (like in this video). Any suggestions on a mic would be appreciated! Greatly appreciated.
This is my own version of Carol of the Bells. The great thing about playing the piano is you have the freedom to improvise and create. See what you can come up with! You'll notice the sequencing in this music, or repeating patterns, right away. The descending baseline is a big part of this well known song. I just sat and played...you can do the same in your own way!
I Want To Hold Your Hand can be found on page 6 of the Piano Adventures - Popular Repertoire Book - Level 2B. This is a fun one to play. Focus on the rhythm in the left hand and you'll get it! Ii play the eighth notes a bit unevenly, but you can count them out and play them evenly - whatever works best for you. Take your time with this and you'll feel great after learning this classic Beatles song! This book contains songs like: Ashokan Farewell * Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead (from The Wizard of Oz ) * Don't Cry for Me, Argentina * I Want to Hold Your Hand * The James Bond Theme * Linus and Lucy * Over the Rainbow (from The Wizard of Oz ) * The River.
Remember...you can do it!
Linus and Lucy can be found on page 8 of the Piano Adventures - Popular Repertoire Book - Level 2B. This is a fun one to play. Focus on the rhythm in the left hand and you'll get it!

How to read and remember lines and spaces in music!
The First Noel from the Bastien Popular Christmas Songs Level 3, is on page 12. About this book from the publisher: "Not only is this outstanding series of popular Christmas favorites appealing to students, it is the most pedagogically structured choice of teachers everywhere. Use the Primer Level for your beginner's first Christmas performance. Level 1 features easy piano arrangements using I, IV, and V7 chords in the keys of C, G, and F. Level 2 introduces more hand position movement. Sophisticated arrangements in a wider variety of keys are used in Levels 3 and 4. Each level is correlated with Bastien Piano Basics or any other method at a comparable level." I would say this book is for the intermediate piano student. This piece is beautiful to play! Your hands are pretty busy and you may have to go over each part individually before putting them together. Take your time with it and believe you can do it...you can! Did you know?
The “Happy Birthday” Song Turned 126 This Year At a well preserved 125 years old, the "Happy Birthday" song has never sounded better. But how much do you know about its history?
Bring A Torch, Jeanette, Isabella from the Bastien Popular Christmas Songs Level 3, is on page 14. "Not only is this outstanding series of popular Christmas favorites appealing to students, it is the most pedagogically structured choice of teachers everyewhere." This piece is a little tricky and fun to play! Your left and right hands are working together, but you may have to go over each part individually and then put them together. This is not a primer/beginner arrangement. It's more of an intermediate/beginner or late beginner arrangement. Take your time with it and believe you can do it! You can find the book here (affiliate link) https://amzn.to/46mrpBJ

Do what you love, love what you do.

Teaching Piano Online. Love it!
America The Beautiful can be found on page 25 of the Alfred's Basic Piano Library Book Four, (pink cover). This piece has chords, both broken and block, interesting baselines that give it fullness and arpeggiated chords at the end. It's not the easiest, but well worth the effort!
I hope this video helps all those who are learning this piece. Please like and subscribe if you find my videos helpful. Thanks!
Remember: Believe you can do it!!
Working on Tarentella. Starting off slowly and keeping it to the first three lines. When they're solid, we'll move on. With busy school schedules, it's good to break pieces down into sections and create goals for each one.
