Illinois Central College will be hosting its 10th Annual International Fair on Saturday, April 12, from noon to 3 pm, in the ICC East Peoria Campus cafeteria. The event will offer the community an opportunity to meet some of ICC’s international students and celebrate their cultures through music, entertainment, food samples, and dancing. Some of ICC’s international students will also provide a fashion show, exhibiting traditional costumes from their home countries. Students from Mexico, Algeria, and Brazil also will staff information booths and will be providing food samples.
ICC Director of International Education, Dr. Barbara Burton, says the goal of the event is to provide a learning experience for families to appreciate world cultures other than their own while being entertained.
Global Village of Peoria Heights will offer fair trade items for sale, including a selection of coffees, chocolates, clothing, and gifts from developing countries.
This event is open to the public, with a suggested admission donation of $2. Children under 12 years are admitted for free. Food samples will be available for a small donation. All proceeds will go toward an international student scholarship fund.
