The Goddard School
We are committed to providing the highest quality experience for the children in our community. Welcome to The Goddard School!
Our unique nurturing approach will give your child the opportunity to develop into a joyful, confident learner, prepared for success in school and in life! Our goal is to be a resource for families and a community where parents can share information and learn from each other.
Operating as usual
If you wanted to learn more about inquiry-based learning, the basis of our education program Wonder of Learningâ˘, weâve got a book for that! Curious Blueberry the Carousel Horse follows Blueberry and her friends as their world opens up when children begin asking questions. Youâll do the same with cues throughout the book to ask your little ones open-ended questions. Plus, thereâs a bonus section that provides even more inquiry-based learning prompts. Visit GoddardSchool.com to purchase a copy today!
At The Goddard SchoolÂŽ of The Goddard School - Durham, we love seeing all of the creative lunches your children bring to School. We also know that packing lunch can be tedious for many reasons. Make it a little more fun with these great lunch hacks for busy families!
đ Freeze foods like yogurt, apple sauce pouches and juice boxes ahead of time. Theyâll thaw in time for lunch!
đ Use cupcake liners to separate food in lunch boxes.
đ Make your own crustless sandwiches with a mason jar, round cookie cutter or crimper.
đ Place plastic wrap over foods that may leak, like watermelon or salad dressing, in a bento-style lunch box.
đ Slice a slit into a banana to help your child peel it easier. Donât slice too much because you donât want it to brown. Extra credit: Write a cute note or draw a silly face on the banana peel with edible markers or a toothpick!
At The Goddard School - Durham, weâre deep in preparation for back-to-school season! We canât wait to welcome everyone back, but we know that the shift in routine can sometimes be hard on little ones. Here are some helpful tips to help make the transition a little easier for your whole family: https://bit.ly/4drwbBD
The Goddard SchoolÂŽ has published a book! đ đ Follow Blueberry the Carousel Horse and her friends as their world opens up when children begin asking interesting questions. This book highlights the power of curiosity, which is the basis of Goddardâs proprietary education program, Wonder of Learningâ˘. At The Goddard School - Durham, we know that by letting children ask questions and make their own discoveries, thatâs when real learning happens. As you read this interactive story, youâll see this happen in real-time with your own children. Purchase a copy today: https://bit.ly/3WN9aDv

Children experience all the same emotions as adults, but they arenât yet equipped with the tools to handle those feelings. The first step toward understanding their big feelings is helping them learn how to recognize and name their emotions. At The Goddard School - Durham we like asking open-ended questions like âWhat is something that makes you happy or sad?â or âCan you show me what face you make when you are happy, sad or angry?â This gives children the opportunity to share their emotions and show what they know about them. This exercise had Goddard students using emojis to identify each emotion in honor of World Emoji Day. đđđđĽđ´ Give it a try with your little one!

Happy National Creativity Day! đ¨â¨
Creativity is all about giving children the freedom to make and play on their own. An activity we love at Goddard is painting with anything BUT a paintbrush! đď¸ Whether itâs string, fork, or feathers, children can use everyday objects to create extraordinary works of art. Creativity is child-led, so let your child's imagination run wild as they learn how to innovate while they create!
