The 2023 State Fair of Texas is almost here and the dates are Sep 29th to Oct 22nd. We are looking forward to an exciting year and we will be in a new location in the GO TEXAN pavilion (on the other side from last years location of the center of the building). The Texas Department of Agriculture has moved us to better showcase the wonderful world of honey and honeybees. We have received several jars of honey to add to the booth, but we still have plenty of room to display your honey. You can contact Skip at [email protected] for more information to display your honey. We are also setting the schedule for volunteers to help run the TBA booth. If you are interested contact John at [email protected] to select a date/time to volunteer for a slot.

This evening, at the GO TEXAN Pavilion Preview Gala I had the pleasure of meeting Agricultural Commissioner Sid Miller.

At the pavilion, you can find an observation hive as well as a wide range of fantastic Texas honeys, displayed by the Texas Beekeepers Association.

Tomorrow is the opening day of the State Fair of Texas! I am looking forward to promoting the use of local honey at the longest-running fair in the United States.

Here is the setup for the new location of the booth at the fair. Same area, but across from where we were located in the center. Had to add more fencing and lights to adjust for the new area. This will get more visibility than we have had before.

Today is a bee-utiful day to learn more about local Texas honey and how bee's are important to the environment. Texas Beekeepers will be on the stage in our GO TEXAN Pavilion, sponsored by Southwest Dairy Farmers, at the State Fair of Texas today and tomorrow from 10 am - 12pm. Can't make it? Visit their booth all 24 days of fair!

We still have plenty of space available for you to volunteer your time at the State Fair booth, contact John Talbert at [email protected]. This is a great opportunity for Texas Master Beekeepers. A few notes for the booth - masks will need to worn while indoor any of the State Fair buildings and for the booth, volunteers will need to fill out the Wellness Sheet, provided by the State Fair. This sheet will be maintained at the booth at all times.

We also need help to support the American Honey Princess, our very own Virginia Allen (2020 Texas Honey Queen) during her cooking demonstrations this weekend. If you are interested, contact John Talbert at [email protected].

The SFoT booth is up and ready for the fair. As you can see, the lighted display is missing some honey. I placed at least one labeled/and size honey jar of all the ones I received in the lighted area. Those that sent me several jars, including my own label, were spaced below. If you want to display your honey, it is not too late. Send it to me ASAP. The VIP opening is tonight and the fair will start tomorrow. We still need volunteers to help run the booth during the fair. On behalf of TBA, thank you to all the ones who have sent honey or have volunteered to spend time at the booth. It is a great educational opportunity our Texas Beekeepers provide to the public.

The State Fair is almost here! It has been a long 2 years since we have set up the booth and things have changed. We still need your support and help.

If you would like to display a jar of your honey at the booth, you can send it to us at Sabine Creek Honey Farm, 22326 County Road 638, Royse City, TX 75189.

If you would like to volunteer your time at the State Fair booth, contact John Talbert at [email protected]. We are setting up the schedule. A few notes for the booth - masks will need to worn while indoor any of the State Fair buildings and for the booth, volunteers will need to fill out the Wellness Sheet, provided by the State Fair. This sheet will be maintained at the booth at all times.

We hope to see you there and have your honey on display for our State Fair guests to see.
