The school district's Long Range Planning Committee will meet in the district office conference room at
CHS at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 14.

On the agenda is a discussion about the future of Pirate extra-curricular activities given the continuing trend of declining enrollment.

7th graders visited UMC today to see all that they have to offer!

The 7th graders will be traveling to UMC on May 9th to become acquainted with some of the things UMC has to offer.

The students will spend a few hours at UMC where they will be split into groups and attend some presentations/activities.

When: Thursday, May 9 - Students will be released from class at 9:35 and board the buses in front of the school at 9:45. The buses will return at approximately 12:25 and the students will go straight to lunch.
After lunch they will return to 5th hour and follow their normal schedule for the rest of the day.

Who: Just 7th graders

What: There will be three sessions (Math and Technology, Equine Science, Horticulture) and students get to attend 2 of the 3.

[05/01/19]   The annual Area 1 NW Regional Envirothon event was held today at Rydell Refuge near Erskine.

Crookston High School had two teams competing in the event. The participants spend 30 minutes at six different stations that focus on different environmental science topics. The stations include: forestry, aquatics, soils, wildlife, current events, and an oral presentation on current issues. The event provides a great opportunity for students to learn from local experts. The top three of the 16 team field qualified for the state tournament being held May 20th at the Oliver Kelley Farm near Elk River, MN.

CHS HAD A TEAM ADVANCE TO STATE with a 2nd place finish scoring 106 points!!!!

Waubun had two teams qualify placing 1st and 3rd scoring 107.5 and 102.

Members of the state qualifying team include Ella Weber, Tai Baig, Emily Gillette, Katherine Geist, Anke Wiersma, and advisor Wes Hanson.

Crookston also had an all sophomore team competing including Janae Luckow, Victoria Proulx, Andrew MacGregor, Linnea French, Sophia Rezac) Their team was right in the mix as well.

What a great opportunity for CHS students to take part in.

Summer driver education classes soon!

Students currently enrolled in Crookston Public Schools interested in taking Driver Education this summer....

Stop in the High School Office to pick up a registration form.

Students need to be 15 years of age by October 31, 2019. The cost is $325 and needs to be paid on the first day of class.

Registration forms are due back no later than Friday, May 24, 2019 at 3:30 pm in the High School office.

The first day of class will be Thursday, May 30, 2019.

Last Wednesday, April 17th, twenty-one CHS orchestra students participated in the String Solo and Ensemble Contest, hosted at Bemidji High School. Students prepared and performed solo and small ensemble pieces for a judge and were given a score based tone quality, intonation, rhythm, balance, blend, technique, interpretation, musicianship, bowing, and other performance factors. Students that received a score of 35-40 earned a Superior rating, or a Double Star, and those that received a score of 28-34 earned an Excellent rating, or a Single Star. All Crookston High School students played their best, and represented Crookston well. Orchestra competes in the 8AA division, with schools from Moorhead, Bemidji, Fergus Falls, and Thief River Falls.
