Happy Thursday!

Local author, looking to inspire Fall 2022-2023. The book, BE THE ONE, teaches children the message that we should be more than good. We need to make a change in this world and to each other and "be the one". The book's message can be used throughout the school year with inspiration for children and even adults to use in and out of the school setting.

Purchase (school or parents) 20 copies (hard/soft) of the book and receive a motivating, free, author visit for 30-45 minutes. In addition, a Thematic Unit will be given to the school. The visit will commence sometime between Fall 2022-2023 (school's choice).

Please share with those who might benefit from this free event.

Town Hall is now preparing Welcome Kits for new families that are moving into our community.

Our Welcome Kits feature and direct these new families to a small number of local businesses for the goods, services & professionals that they need to find.

Since our Welcome Kits are exclusive, and we can only accommodate one Day Care/Pre-School Center, I would ask you to kindly let me know if you are interested in being the featured Day Care Facility in our local Welcome Kits.

It is worthy to note that, according to Dr. Cathy Goodwin in her book “Making the Big Move”, 33% of new residents and families seek out a new Child Care Center shortly after their relocation. As such, approximately 1 out of 3 recipients of our Welcome Kits are actively seeking a new Child Care Center.

I would like to schedule a time when you are expecting me so that I may drop off a sample of our "Welcome Kit" and explain the program in greater detail.

Please reply to this message with your availability or call me at your earliest convenience.

For a faster response, or if you prefer, feel free to call or text me on my cell which is listed in my signature.

Celebrating the Holidays

Holidays are a great opportunity for children to learn about the cultures and traditions of others. This helps create a sense of belongingness and an appreciation for how we are all alike and different. This December, try learning about different holidays like Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Christmas whether you celebrate them or not.

Happy birthday to Libby℠ the lamb, our friend who helps teach students all about fairness! Most families know (and dread) the familiar cry of “That’s not fair!” but these tips can help turn a young child’s frustration into a great learning opportunity.

Cold temperatures keeping you inside? Bring the outside in with this fun, STEAM-inspired indoor garden activity using recycled materials! Help your child put on their scientist hat and use observation skills to watch the plants grow and change all winter.

The holidays are a time for joy, but for many families, there’s also a lot of pressure to make everything perfect. Try these tips to overcome packed calendars, sugar overload and budget-busting buying sprees.

📅 Create some space on your calendar.
Re-evaluate the number of parties and events you reply yes to this year and leave space for spontaneous family fun.

😴 Maintain your family’s sleep routine.
Adults and children need adequate sleep all the time, but especially during the holidays with all the stimuli and activity.

🍭 Watch out for sugar overload.
As they say, “everything in moderation.” Sweet treats are a great part of the holidays, but too much sugar can lead to cranky children and irritable adults.

👪 Keep it simple.
Making ornaments, presents and holiday décor is a fun way to express creativity, enjoy quality family time and even help ease financial stress.

🍽️ Make mealtime meaningful.
Let mealtime be a time of coming together and enjoying the moment. During the holidays, make an extra effort to eat your meals at the table as a family.

🔇 Cherish silence.
Make time for a bit of silence every day, whether it’s in the morning before the children wake up, during their nap or right before you turn in.

🎵 Create joyful rituals.
Find some time for family fun with simple holiday rituals you and your children will always remember, like singing holiday songs in the car.

Happy holidays! Check out our blog for the full story.

Ms. Gil is an infant teacher at Primrose School of Druid Hills and has been teaching in early childhood for over 10 years. For Native American Heritage Month, she joined us to share her story.

Tell us about yourself and your Native American heritage.

Ms. Gil: “My dad and grandma always said that our Native American Heritage was Blackfoot from the northern Idaho and Montana region. It wasn’t until our family moved to a tiny town in northern Nevada that I really learned about Native American culture. I lived on the reservation with my husband and his family, and they taught me traditions and customs of the tribe.”

Every year, Primrose students across the country join in the Caring and Giving Food Drive to help families in their local communities, and this year, we’d like to invite every family from Primrose and beyond to join in the fun.

Follow these steps to help your little one learn about giving without expectation as they lead their own family food drive!

🧺 Step One: Complete Chores
Age-appropriate chores help children learn responsibility and build self-confidence. Use these tasks to let your child earn money to buy groceries for their food drive.

🥫 Step Two: Make a Shopping List
Download the fill-in-the-blank shopping list activity in our blog post. Use this as an opportunity to talk about the importance of balanced meals and the difference between perishable and non-perishable foods.

🏬 Step Three: Head to the Store
Grocery stores are one of the best places to help your child explore the world around them. They’re filled with opportunities to count, look for letters on packaging, compare textures and more.

💗 Step Four: Donate to Those in Need
Now you’re ready for the best part—giving! Look for food banks, churches, community centers, shelters and more in your local community.

😊 Step Five: Share Your Journey
We’d love to see your family food drive in action. Share your pictures and videos with us using and tagging Schools.

Read our blog for even more tips!

Today begins Native American Heritage Month and the celebration of the cultures, traditions, histories and contributions of Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian and Island communities. For more than a century, there have been efforts to nationally recognize Indigenous Peoples, and in 1990, November was officially designated for this honor.

By learning about and celebrating all the ways we are alike and different, we foster a sense of belongingness in all.
