Empathy is not a weakness but a superpower — Ladders

A great read on the importance of empathy. With the pervasive use of technology younger generations are lacking in human connection more now than ever before. Feeling in sync with others is essential to getting back on track. Empathy is more than a skill; it’s an invitation. We don’t need to read someone else’s mind to be empathetic. It requires understanding the depth of their feelings.

Happy Mother's Day to all the incredible Moms out there! Wishing you a day filled with love, kindness...some me-time and a pedicure. 😉

The results coming out of our post-ThinkGive student impact surveys are phenomenal!

"ThinkGive teaches students skills that are often overlooked in the day to day curriculum in schools. At this vulnerable age, lessons of kindness, gratitude, and empathy are so important. ThinkGive creates a culture of giving in the classroom that is powerful. It provides meaningful real world homework assignments that show students how they can make a small, but profound, positive impact on others.”

Building Empathy One Class at a Time – The Park Parent

ThinkGive is featured in The Park School - Brookline, MA newsletter! Our "curriculum helped 5th graders experience empathy on a whole new level."

One teacher noted that her students “Were reluctant at first...but as they became accustomed to the curriculum — each new challenge asking students to observe, discuss, and reflect — the conversations became richer and their actions braver. While some students went above and beyond with their gifts, most stayed true to ThinkGive’s philosophy of simple acts of kindness. It was heartwarming to watch students look for opportunities to give to others and to hear the buzz in the room as they read about what their peers did.”

Read the full piece here: I think I should be on your empathy task force because empathy is important. When you are being empathetic you can take pressure and hurt that other people have and lift if off their back.

NAIS - Seeing School As More Than the Sum of Its Parts

ThinkGive is in the news! In the NAIS -- National Association of Independent Schools Spring 2019 magazine, Dedham Country Day School's Allison Webster (Head of School) and Kate Reardon (Director of Academic Technology) examine how to "consider a school as a living, breathing whole and not just an assemblage of parts." Using ThinkGive as a tool to encourage students and teachers alike to engage in kindness and empathy is one of those ways.
Read on! You may have heard the old parable about a group of blind men and an elephant. The men heard that a strange animal had been brought to town, and they wanted to touch it so they could understand what it was. The first man, whose hand landed on the trunk, decided that the elephant was like a thick sna...

How Self-Compassion Supports Academic Motivation and Emotional Wellness

We're big believers in the benefits of self-care. In fact, "Give to Yourself" is the first student prompt in ThinkGive. Self-compassion promotes a healthy sense of self-worth because it’s not contingent and it's unconditional. Be kind to yourself and read this article! Being kind to oneself by practicing self-compassion can help people develop a healthy source of self-worth, feel less alone and calm some of the negative voices in one's head.
