We offer an award winning program in which space is limited, so it is very important that you register. There is absolutely no cost to parents or students.

Our "Inborn Excellence Initiative" after school program for students in grades 2-5 will start on Monday, 8/26. Please join us on 8/23 for our open house to register. The program is free and space is limited.

Next week we are hosting a College Tour & Day Trip to Case Western Reserve University, The Cleveland Museum of Art & Yoder's Amish Farm The trip is open to rising 9-12 graders. Sign up at http://rickenbackerdaytrip2.eventbrite.com.

You MUST attend the info session for your child to come on the trip. This trip is FREE, however you may send spending money if you wish. Limited seating is available for parents who would like to attend as well!

Earlier today I joined with Mayor Andrew J. Ginther to announce the recipients of the Columbus MBK grants program. This $100,000 fund prioritizes critical collaboration to break down silos and create a better connected village for our young people. While dollars are essential, My Brother’s Keeper is about more than dollars. It is our commitment to our boys and young men of color.

Location: Southside elementary schools
Ages: 2nd-5th Grade
Summary: After-school program that focuses on enhancing reading proficiency and provides monthly place-based experiences at local institutions such as the Columbus Museum of Art.

Maroon Arts Group
Location: Near East Side, Milo Grogan and Linden
Ages: 14-18
Summary: Food service job training that uses a trauma-informed, mindfulness lens to help youth better engage with the negative dynamics they experience in their community while learning a trade.

Central Community House
Location: Near Eastside
Ages: 6-18
Summary: Expansion of mentoring, summer camp and after-school youth enrichment program.

The Columbus Urban League
Location: Southside
Ages: 9-17
Summary: Supports the I Am My Brother’s Keeper initiative that provides wraparound services and experiences for at-risk youth on the Southside of Columbus.

Community Refugee and Immigration Services (CRIS)
Location: Hilltop, Linden and Northland
Ages: Middle School and High School age
Summary: Expansion of the mentor/mentee program with an emphasis on job readiness.

The Ohio State University School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences Division of Medical Dietetics and OSU Extension
Location: Southside
Ages: 9-17
Summary: Critical thinking summer program that focuses on African American history and the current African American experience. It also provides solutions to current issues that youth may face.
