Sport Coaching and Physical Activity

Looking to pursue a career in sports, fitness, coaching or recreation? This program covers all of these bases! Give us a like to learn more.

The physical education teacher education (PETE) specialization is a competitive option that includes the requirements for teacher certification in the state of Ohio. Once a student meets the minimum requirements to be admitted into the major, he/she is automatically enrolled into the major. Students are prepared to earn a teaching license for physical education in grades K–12. A non-licensure option, the physical activity and coaching specialist (PACS) specialization merges an understanding of child and youth development with knowledge and instructional skills in physical activity, sport and nutrition. Students who graduate from this program are prepared to become leaders in youth development in recreation centers, sports clubs, schools and similar locations. Visit our website to find out more! https://u.osu.edu/sportcoachingandphysicalactivity/ There is also a masters route for PESPA. For more information, visit https://ehe.osu.edu/human-sciences/kinesiology/sports-coaching

Mission: The physical education, sport and physical activity program (PESPA) prepares students to promote and teach physical activity and recreation activities to children and members of the community.
