At the R.H. Smith School of Business, we understand that true business leadership creates positive economic, social and environmental change. Net Impact at Smith serves as a hub for both academic and career-oriented activities related to developing a broader perspective of leadership and entrepreneurship. Through guest lecturers, student discussions, interactive workshops, and community volunteering, we explore new business models and methods to exert a positive impact upon our environment.

Net Impact and the Smith Veterans Association had a great time volunteering at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington DC today. We enjoyed meeting and thanking veterans for their service during the ice cream social!

A big thank you to all those who volunteered with us at the resume building workshop at CASA de Maryland! 25 immigrant workers now have a resume they can use to find permanent jobs that will help sustain themselves, their families and the community. After the session was over many of the workers who took part were beaming proudly with their new resumes. Stay tuned for our next volunteering opp with CASA in February!

The DC Net Impact chapters will host a joint happy hour on Monday, October 26 from 5-7pm in Mission in Dupont Circle. This will be a great opportunity to meet members from Georgetown, GWU and American and other DC schools and is open to all due-paying members. (If you haven't paid yet just pay your $10 dues at the door). Drinks and appetizers will be provided. RSVP at

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs, from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, Lucky Dog is able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes.

Net Impact will be collecting business attire clothing to donate to Dress for Success and Million Dollar Man. All donations help provide clothing to those that can not afford to purchase interview appropriate attire (ties, shirts, blouses, jackets, pants).
