At Woodwinds, you will find a growing community of learning musicians, all supporting one another as they learn new repertoire and techniques for their instrument. Students learn from faculty and peers alike during their time at Woodwinds.
Meghan and I co-founded Woodwinds because we wanted to bring a sense of musical community to our students. As we pursued our degrees, we enjoyed sharing support with our peers while feeling challenged by the progress of others around us. In a group atmosphere with shared interest, knowledge, and passion, we learned from each other as we performed and received feedback from faculty. This experience aided in our learning and strengthened our bond with other students. After teaching in the area for seven years, we found this sense of studio community to be lacking in the lesson experience for our younger music students. We decided to join forces and create Woodwinds, a lesson community for students of all ages. In addition to weekly lessons, students attend workshops, masterclasses, recitals, and group makeup classes where they perform for each other regularly and receive feedback in a group setting. Through this process, they learn from each other just as we did, exchanging thoughts and ideas and showing their peers reassurance. At Woodwinds we believe music thrives when created and experienced with others!
Mission: To foster a sense of school community through workshops, masterclasses, and recitals, and challenge students so they feel empowered to achieve their highest potential as musicians.
