Hello HIT ZONERS! We hope everyone faired well with Hurricane Irma. It was scary at points but I think we can all say that we dodged a bullet here in South Florida and our prayers were answered. Hopefully power will be restored soon and our lives can go back to normal for everyone!

We were at the studio today and power is back on and we will resume classes tomorrow morning. For anyone that had an active monthly membership we added a week to everyone's account. See everyone soon! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

EXERCISE IS ONLY ONE PIECE OF FITNESS BODY PUZZLE.

If you plan on losing that extra weight while building lean muscle the best and easiest way to do it is healthy eating plan. But you should know that the muscle-building process is a lot different from the fat loss process.

Focus on Protein!

Eating enough protein is a vital component of building lean muscle and will help you lose fat. Protein helps your muscles during the recovery stage by allowing it to repair after a heavy workout which will eventually result in lean muscle growth. Protein can require a lot of energy during digestion and can make you feel full after the meal thus letting you avoid consuming too many extra calories. During the fat loss stages you can safely eat 7-10 grams of protein for every 10 pounds of body weight. Avoid eating more than 40 grams at any one time.

Eat Fats!

Including healthy fats in your diet will help you lose body fat and assist in muscle growth. Healthy fats are usually found in coconut oil, nuts, seeds, avocados, olive oil, small and amounts of dairy. They are great sources of energy and will ensure that your muscles and nerves function properly. These fatty foods are essential when exercising and incredibly helpful in building lean muscle. Even though it might sound counterintuitive, consuming fats specifically healthy fats are actually linked with easier fat loss, lower levels of body fat, and increased lean muscle.

Be Carb Conscious

If you plan on building lean muscle then carbs are an essential component to include in your diet. Carbs will provide your muscles with the fuel and energy needed during your workout. Consuming foods that are rich in carbs such as whole grains, sweet potatoes, rice and fruit will provide you with enough energy to perform an intense workout while maintaining stable energy levels throughout the day. However, if you eat too any carbs then it can slow fat loss. Remember that excess carbs are stored as fat. Be carb smart and eat carbs in moderation.

Drink Smart

What you drink will just have as much impact on your body composition as what you eat. If you want to lose body fat, you should be focused on drinking water, lots of it. Avoid drinking alcohol, too much fruit juice, and sodas so that the process will be much faster. As for muscle building, you can include protein shakes and milk in your diet especially if you are struggling with eating the right amounts of protein regularly.

Tips

In order to build lean muscle, you must balance a proper eating regimen with cardio and strength training. Exercise alone is not enough. Eating the right balance of proteins, fats and carbs along with plenty of water is an essential component of any fitness plan!

SCREW THE SCALE! I see so many women who are obsessed with their weight and only their weight. Connie started coming in to train with us two months ago and her body composition has changed dramatically! No need for measurements or statistics. A picture is worth a thousand words and the redistribution of fat into muscle is amazing! Great work Connie!
